Need a replacement cambelt/tensioner?

My FTO will soon be needing the cambelt and tensioner replaced so I have sourced what I believe is a pretty good price if anyone is interested.

The two parts are genuine Mitsubishi sourced from NZ.

The retail prices are: NZ$465.75 for the cambelt (232 teeth) + tensioner
NZ$415.10 for the cambelt (226 teeth) + tensioner

The prices that I have negotiated: Retail prices less 12.5% GST less an additional 20% from shelf price.

NZ$331.20 for the cambelt (232 teeth) + tensioner
NZ$415.10 for the cambelt (226 teeth) + tensioner

Each of these prices require an additional NZ$20 to cover shipping to here.
So at the current exchange rate the prices including the shipping equate to roughly:

AUS$307.35 for the cambelt (232 teeth) + tensioner
AUS$275.88 for the cambelt (226 teeth) + tensioner

Note that these prices are only for GPX Mivec models. There are two types of belts that can only be determined by verification of your chassis no, ie: DE3A 0101792 is mine and it requires the 232 tooth belt. Unfortunately the belt type can't be determined just from what model or year your FTO is.

I haven't priced these parts in Australia but I'm certain that it would be much more expensive here.

The part nos for the 232 tooth belt and tensioner for those that are interested are: MD 211195 and MD 308593 respectively.

So - I'd like to know if anyone is interested in purchasing a belt and tensioner to save on a little shipping costs.

If you are interested I will be purchasing my set soonish via credit card. Anyone who wants in will need to confirm their chassis no to me via here prior to buying so that the correct belt and price is arranged. Ideally all money should be direct deposited to my a/c or other arrangements made before the parts are ordered.

Thanks, Brad.

Stephen - can you tell me where I can get the cambelt at that price please. Plus what price is the hydraulic tensioner too thanks.

rxboy - I was not concerned about the part no. for the other cambelt as it was not applicable for my car.

As for the chassis no. for that belt, that is anyone's guess. I was told that there is only one way to tell what belt your FTO requires and that is by telling Mits NZ "your" chassis no. I only used my chassis no as an example so that everyone knows what no. you need to confirm. I guess you could always call Mits NZ and ask them what chassis no. is applicable to each belt but I got the distinct impression that the answer to that question is not as easy as you'd think...

I think the following was posted by Cohn when he did his 100k service:

FORGET THE OEM. Get from Gates Australia for 120 or something (shipped over to sydney from Meli).

Just look for Gates belts in melbourne or something, the part number is located in one of my previous posts.

Same thing... its just a rubber belt that should cost $30-40

The two different belts could be for Mivec and non-Mivec engines.
