Legal advice?

Okay sort version of story:
Take in blown amp to repairer. They look over it for the $45 quote fee and tell me that it needs $800 worth of mosfets replaced. i take the amp and source the mosfets myself for around $250. Take it back they say $265 in labour to fix. i give the go ahead.
They call a week later. Amp still not working. needs parts they cant get. I get part numbers and find them myself. costs around $200. Give them the parts. they call up another week later. amp still doesnt work... needs more parts that they cant source. $150 later i give them the parts they want. They ring up and say they need MORE parts...
Im sick of this. I said this is bullcrap. i want my amp back.
They say righto. just pay the quoted amount of $265.
Do i have to pay this? Not only have they not delivered what i asked for but they have cost me $600 in the process. for an amp that is no better than when i brought it in.

I am calling to speak to the Proprieter this afternoon. Where do i stand legally?
Fair enough it has cost them in labour but it has cost me far more in parts. We have both made a loss. I dont see why i should have to cover theirs when the advice they have given me (to buy new parts) has cost me so much money. They cant fix it, so i dont see why i should have to pay them.

How should i approach this? I usually dont kick up a fuss but i really dont see this as being fair.

please help me.

sounds like negotiating isn't working...
so tell them you're going to hold off payment until
the matter is sorted out by the small claims tribunal...
the tribunal should be able to settle it pretty quickly

bit difficult.... 8O

because you entered into a contract that you agreed to pay for "Labor" costs regardless of how many times they have asked you for parts...IF you had agreed in the original cost of repair then thats all you should have had to pay.

In saying that, you can claim they you had reasonable cause to believe that the original assessment of the amp was a valid one and purely based on that you decided to purchase the parts they originally said the amp required. you can argue that their original quote was not performed accurately therefore they tried to mislead you since now they keep on discovering faults.
You also are within your right to request every part they have "claimed" to replace, if they can't produce that then they may be using all those "extra" parts to repair other crap.

now this is not legal advise, and i suggest you seek it through legasl aid or other legal resources.

This is gonna sound like a really bad thing to do, but if you kick up a big enough stink about it, you'll get it back no questions asked.

Get angry, get huffy, and if you can, try to go in when some other customers are there. They'll be scared of looking bad and give it back.

Yeah... im very much not that type of person and cant stand d**k head customers. So i hope to resolve this in a proffesional matter.

I suppose it all hinges on talking to the proprietor this arvo.
