Help. Stiff Gear Changes.

Okay. I was stopped for about half an hour. Got in my car. went to reverse out of the driveway and the gear stick felt different. i just thought oh well.. then as i proceeded to drive down the street, i noticed every gear was the same.... after an hour it was slightly easier but still there.
Got home checked clutch fluid. almost empty. filled it up. no different.. hasnt lost any since then either..
The feeling reminds me of the scroll button on a computer mouse. how it sort of has soft clicks. The stick does the same... it goes into gear fine. it doesnt make any noises at all. clutch feels normal.
But the gear stick has a resistance when moving it vertically. it doesnt feel like the gear box. And i can get to it to check the linkages (turbo in the way). any suggestions?
BTW: I just bought a Sports Organic clutch that goes in soonish. So hopefully clutch problem but i dont think i'm that lucky.
ideas????

Has a resistance when shifting vertically, well that sorta sounds like mine, mine is sorta like has that resistance and then snaps into gear, it doesn't crunch or anything and goes into gear with out a problem and its been like that ever since I got it.
It feels like no other gearbox that I have driven with so to me it sounds fine, unless your turbo has melted the shift cables.

Have a read of this Sam:

I have also heard of issues with this bracket & heat from hairdryers... it can melt the rubber in the bracket.

Not really...
FTOOC guide wrote:Total Cost: A big fat £0.00 assuming you have these basic tools and 8 M3 or M4 nuts and bolts lying around (hacksaw bolts to size if need be).
May be cost involved with heat shielding thou...

Thought I'd dig up this thread because it explains exactly what is going on with my gearstick. Today, it got a whole lot worse and it's really beginning to make driving hell. Could it be the bushes? I was thinking of grabbing the RPW short shift kit, would that remove the problem?

Thanks :)

*bump*

Guys, I'd really like some input before I go ripping my gear stick surround out.

unless the problem is in any of the bits that get changed when doing the short shifter it will actually make the problem worse. there is less leverage being appied on the gear selectors.
