wattt.. thats some tought laws. jono, wats the current ruling for p-platers in sydney at the moment?? how many demerits etc they allowed?

in perth i think we have it pretty easy, p's have a full 12 points and no extra penalties at this stage.

anyway, its only a proposal and something like that COULD mean a major clog a court systems so could be looked down upon haha.

well if people are going to do stupid shyt, they'll do it either way. the way some red P platers drive, if they get caught they'd loose well over 6 points anyway, so I dont think this will make a difference.

well since i've had my license, i didnt loose a single point or ever be pulled over for 3 years and 2 months cos im a safe driver so i spose this isnt gonan really change nothing..

cmon u gotta agree, u see dumb sh*t 17 year olds who get their license and do like 30 kms over the limit, or swerve in and out, that kinda sh*t will get their license cancelled anyway, so it doesnt make a diff if they have 1 point or 4 points..

but im sick of this p plater bs... i think that drivers that arent p platers die as much as p platers...

and out of the people i know. I know a lot more full license drivers that drink drive then p platers.

seriously if your going to put this many restrictions on p platers, why let them drive at all?

next thing you know, they'll have a 1.5L restriction

I don't feel like having a discussion on this topic but what i think this new rule is good cause AT LEASE it give P plates a chance to drive and if they blew it themselves ... no comments

Everyone will have more xp when they do the same thing over & over again so ok full license have more points but drink drive still get them busted in one go?

I dont know what the current SA laws are - but back when I got my licence (and no there were no dinosaurs alive then ) you got a 4 point allowance on your licence as a P Plater.

ANY speeding fine was 3 points - and then you lost an extra point for breaching P Plate regulations = lost your licence. All my friends (and I) managed to survive this time.....

I don't have a problem with it - you drove at the correct speed - you didnt lose your licence. The onus was on personal responsibility.

The one strike rule would only be for a year - I'm all for it

Currently you get 4 points on your red P plates which lasts one year and 8 points on your greens which lasts for two years. So you could lost up to 3 and keep your license on reds or 7 and keep it on greens.

What they want to implement is 1 point on red plates. Which is kind of silly. I mean, if you're ever going to make a mistake, it's more likely that you'll do it on your red plates. Lets say you lose attention and stray 5-10 over the limit, that would mean that you lose your license. I don't think anybody here can say they've never gone 10 over the limit unintentionally. It's an unforgiving system and I don't support it.

3 years of having one point. If one of your P plates comes off without your knowledge from the back and you get a nasty cop that takes your points, after 2.5 years you could be back to the start.

I have a lot to say about this but i just cant be bothered anymore why cant people just stop picking on P Platers for ,im disgusted. And hey theres plaenty of police on the roads as is for the last month i see a minumum of 7 just driving between kiama and sutherland and i make that trip twice a week every week, although id rather my 4 demerits and a lot more police i think that would be much fairer.

I could argue this point for as long as I can still draw breath, not that will ever achieve anything- whats the point of filling in surveys and having your say in these bullshit laws when any opinions of young people are ignored anyways..

They're gonna continue to screw over young drivers until they have absolutely no rights left. i reckon the only way they're ever gonna pay attention is if a few hundred thousand young people riot in the streets like in France not long ago! riot anyone??

I think the laws are great and should even raise the L plate age to 18 but then again our roads arent too crash hot to drive on and anyone can really crash driving on that mess.

I think its a good idea, but I think it should only apply to red P platers.
When I first started (sorta like Tanya there were no dinosaurs.... f*cken asteroids, I could been riding a tyrannosaurus to work if it wasn't for them Sorry... I digress lol) it was a 4 point systems. I lost 3 points on the 3rd day I had the license! So, 11 months & 27 days later I moved on to a full license.. didn't loose a point after that & it sure as hell slowed me down.

It was always going to happen... its the way of the world unfortunately. Some bastard gets lung cancer from sitting next to a smoker in a pub - every friggen pub has smoking banned in most areas...

BTW - I'm not actually on P Plates myself, never had a speeding ticket, or anything more than a parking ticket. I still don't think that some uptight 50 y.o. pricks should be making changes to laws that apparently were "good enough" back then to make them such spectacular drivers that they apparently think they are.. and screwing over young people, especially the ones that aren't old enough to have a say in it - not that they would even if they were old enough ... but meh. whatever. can't be bothered arguing over it much more, 'tis one of the things right up there on the list that pisses me off too much & is not able to be helped..
