hi , i was wondering what colour fto should i buy? white or black?i have 12 grand to spend and i can get a white 1995 for 10.5 grand (95000ks) or a black 1995 (80000k's) for 12 grand, both have the same parts as each other (stock with exhaust and cd headunit)except the white fto has white dials, what should i buy im only 17 so money is low haha maybe just putting a front spoiler and 2nd hand rims on thats it. lol thanks guys

black is fine, but dont mind white either....

personally I would pay attention to the paint job and have a good look over each car, if they are the same, for the 10k verison and save urself some cash..

But make sure its in good condition...no point saving 2k then spedning it again and causing u headaches..

Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, get whichever colour you like best - get one in pink if you like it

I would suggest that you get whichever one is better mechanically, take them both for a test drive, get an RACQ check at the very least if you don't know someone who is a mechanic or good with cars that can go with you. Even if you do take someone out with you who knows cars, it might be best to get an RACQ check on the one that you decide to get before you buy it.

Don't feel pressured to buy either one the first time you go out there to look at it, go back and check them out a few times if you need to do that to be sure.
Also, when you test drive them - I know your 17, and I don't want to recommend that you do anything too crazy & end up hurting yourself, but it is a good idea to test the cars limits. Maybe, find somewhere that you can safely test the cars limits - a quiet industrial area with nice wide streets or something like that where there are not many other cars or people on the road - I would definately recommend that you just do it on a straight stretch of road and not fast cornering in a car you don't know. Even if you get someone you know to do it, dad, uncle or whatever if you're not comfortable with it.

no matter what you pick you will suffer some lovely post purchase dissonance.. dont worry every one will gets it..

when i bought mine i was tossing up between black or white aswell.. end of the day i missed out on the black fto off auction and a couple weeks later in fact got the silver / champange colour which i originally intended not even to look at. Of course then came the omg did i pick the right one!? but in the end of the day, and its basic understanding of consumer behaviour which ever you pick you will regret (and think oh maybe the other woulda been better) BUT then you will realllly grow to what ever u pick (coz its clear you like both of the colours equally)

I had my heart set on black for my car which i didnt get but hey .. i got a sick silver fto which i think looks just as sweet. Take the advice of test driving the car its a much more important feature and my extra 2cents, the car with 80'000km would probably be swaying me that way

either wayyy remember .. your only a sick cat when your driving an fto so buy buy buy!

White's sexier and the roof rust problem is less prevalent because it doesn't get as hot (less moisture)... it's an expensive issue to fix and a lot of black fto's will be well and truly on there way to having paint bubbles and sh*t by now, I know a few did when I went looking for my FTO a couple of years ago... didn't know the cause of it though till dstocks figured it all out

I've got a black one. Looks great, but its impossible to keep clean for more than a few days unless its never parked outside or driven in the rain. Good luck with the purchase!

hey im so angry, you know what sucks, i have to pay my college bill so now my budget has dropped from 12 grand to a mere 8 grand! would i still be able to pick up and fto, or will i have to get a prelude or some cheap good lookign car, id much rather a fto gr stock, is it possible at 8 grand?

Dont forget your going to have to do all the lovely costly things with the RTA and you need to consider Insurance as well

8 grand is possible for a fto... just look on carsales... might need a bit of work though

forget it ... just get any colour and respray to whatever you like

One of the most important pre purchase things I can suggest is to do is to go around the entire car gently tapping over every panel, if the sound changes from a hollow sound to a thud, ask some questions as it is likely that it has had a crash in Japan (or Aus if it was already there).

Also lift up the carpet in the boot and have a look for anything that looks out of the ordinary, like seams that are out of alignment or bulgy patch up jobs that could indicate that it has had a rear end accident. I have seen a car (Skyline) that the sales man was adamant had never been crashed that still had the repairers marker pen marks under the carpet they use for re-alignment etc. It's a dead set giveaway.

If anything like the above is evident then ask questions, it is likely that the car is perfectly safe, but do not be afraid to talk the price way down if it happens. Because the salesman will know that the car won't be worth anywhere near what they are asking if you do find something.

As for pricing, really not sure what your car market is like, but also don't be afraid to offer what you want to pay and just give the salesman your number and leave. Don't get into his BS negotiating about prices etc, more often than not he will call you within a day and offer you the car at your price or for not a lot more.

As for colour? I like the red ones, I have had two now, only thing I would do is possibly respray to a slightly deeper red. Also, I can be extremely slack and not clean it for a month or so, and it can be dirty like a ma'fucka, but it still looks bloody good under direct sunlight. IMO the red ones need less work to keep looking good.

As for white or black? I would go for white.
