Yeah its ETA to me is this Friday, which gives me the weekend to put it in. Should take too long to install, only thing that will be a little time consuming is heating up the speedo drive gear & moving it over from the old diff, then shimming the diff bearings into the case.

Then its the usual 3 hours to get the box back in :)

Its finally in transit, got a tracking number from USPS saying its left the US.

Managed to press the speedo drive off an old diff, so I got everything I need now.

Today Im putting in a 13 row oil cooler. Gonna mount it up under the drivers wheel arch.

They only just sent it?
I guess we have to wait a bit longer now...

btw, with the oil cooler, does the oil pass through it all the time or is it like the coolant, where a thermostat needs to open?

Yeah it had to go from east coast of the US to west, before shipping OS & it got caught in the hurricane Irene backlog.

Oil passes through all the time.

I'm thinking about getting a 7 row cooler just to keep the oil a little fresher when on the track.

Got half the job done :) Nestled it up under the front bumper. Just short a few connectors & more braided line. Also got to run some duct from the DC hole in the bumper to the back of it.

Bit concerned about how low the filter is now too, might look into a stubbier alternative in the future.

That cooler is not going to be anywhere near as effective as if it was mounted vertically.

But ya know what... I was just scratching through my parts bin & I found a little 10 inch thermo fan that was in perfect working order... Hmmm...

Especially since the overheating issue only happens at the track....

That would work :D .
Wire it in with a toggle switch so you can turn it on and off when needed.

Or make a scoop to go over the underside of the oil cooler with the excess going out from near your tyres.
Kind of like the old aircooled motors...
save a bit of weight and would do the same job.

Its here 8) and I might say its a rather impressively finished product. A nice peice of engineering. ARP fasteners through out... and 2 free stickers!

The only thing stopping me putting it in & going for a test run tonight, is if I run out of beer. Or shims lol, for the diff bearings.
