Tell him that you have had 2 seperate mechanics both diagnose it to be leaking cam seals.

I just want to add at this time with out seeing the car and checking it out we can't really say what is leaking. We can only go of info given to us, even mechanics have to do a proses of elimination when there is more than one problem. They fix one thing then another one shows up. Yep it's frustrating but what can you do

We do own cars that are over 10 years old and will get problems even when we look after them.
Every one that has had a oil leak knows it can be a bitch to find some times.

I kinda wish I hadn't read this thread.
My car is currently at Joe n Rik's having the same seals replaced and now I'm wondering whether I should get the head gasket replaced at the same time, not that I could even afford the additional cost...

Well in 5years as a mechanic and 15+ years working on cars, I havent seen it or heard of it.

but given that since you are doing all the gaskets with your already high mileage engine, why not do the head gasket at the same time?
then the engine is not likely not to cause any other leaks anytime soon. if there is still leaks, you still can get the mechanic to fix them for free as he did all the gaskets.
do a good flush, add good oil, change spark plugs and better ignition coils, then the engine is bullet proof once more.

You only do a head gasket if its blown. Sooooo much labour & fking around just to get the bastards on & off.
And + 1 on the never heard of a head gasket leaking oil externally before...

UPDATE: just got back from pulse racing, we looked at the rear cam seals, sit there for like half hr+, cleans it, then run the car, the seals isnt leaking, but behind the pulley theres 2 half black moon thing (a part of the rocker cover seal?) can see its coming from there, then under the 1st pulley, which they said its the cam cradle, its coming from there, then they say to do that, equals to replacing the heads. so can this leak just be rocker cover seals? or really the head, they say its a gamble, and apparently aza had a head oil leak awhile before too

ill see how much cheaper it would cost to do it at my mates mechanic, cause pulse already quoted me 1500-1800 for it, and my mates dad quote me around 800 labour, 300 to machine the head, and parts. T.T

Yep my 1/2 moons need doing soon as they are just starting to go. We still have to have a good look as we only did a 5 min check as we were doing other things, and it was also 20:00 the night befor supper lap.
I will be looking into it more when it starts really dripping.
