Well he said he'd be happy to put it on the dyno, so he must be pretty confident...

Haha 10kw from catback ??? I don't think so...not even mandrel bent piping or high flow cat either..
As for dynos..the operator can make it show whatever they want.

Oh wellll. He said he's done FTOs before. I'm not particularly fussed anyway. I just need a new one so I can pass my roadworthy!

Yeah... because there's heaps of other stuff you can do to an FTO to get power

What does he usually work on? Commodores?

Ok so I took that out of context. He said they were unnecessary for my TOTALLY stock drivetrain.

Is that better?

Put it this way, at least he wasn't trying to milk me for all I'm worth... He was honest enough to tell me not to pay $300 for a high-flow cat that will provide minimal power gains to a stock engine, especially when I have a new cat installed anyway.

Hmm yea, I went for the most expensive ones. There were some cheapies for a bit under $100, but the ones I got are bigger and perforated, so I will get a deeper sound out of them.

but those merely block the exhaust partially and you cant gun it - there'd be too much back pressure

they arent made for every day use

more so for the f**k-its-a-cop moments

it would be stupid to run a semi ckosed evc and decat/no resonator everday, all day... defeats the purpose

Ok, so my car is going in on Thursday and I don't know whether to get mandrel bending or not!

The guy who I'm going to said it will cost me double to have mandrel bends and he insists that the cost doesn't justify the power gains on an FTO.

I need some honest opinions here... Should I go the whole way and pay $800 for the "superior" exhaust or should I just save my money and spend it elsewhere, like on my pain in the ass oil leak?

Well I would go with the mandrel set up that way when you do other mods you will get the best out of them.
But if your not looking at doing any mods at all then take the cheaper one.
