Keep the icon to show where you have posted, get rid of the popular icon.

Sweet, agreed.

Also made some permissions & groups changes.

From now on:
- All newly signed up users are automatically classed into the 'Newly Registered Users' group - Notable for the automatically assigned avatar icon: Image
- Members of the group 'Newly Registered Users' cannot post in the Cars for Sale or Parts for Sale section
- Once a noob acheives a minimum of 20 posts, they will then automatically be transferred to the 'Regular Users' group - which can then post in the for sale areas. The n00b icon will also dissappear.

This is to stop would-be entrepreneurs signing up, just to hock their sh*t.

Bennoz wrote:What do you think about the topic icons? (the little folder, folder with star, folder with plus or folder with star and plus)

The star sybmol means 'popular topic'.... I don't like it. I want to remove it, we've never had a reason to mark topics 'popular' or not...

The plus symbol means 'I've posted in this thread'.... that feature I quite like. I'd like to keep that one.

:?:
They look okay but I find it confusing to recognize instantly which threads have new posts in them since the last time I logged on, previously the newly posted threads had a blue dot next to them, could we have a feature like that carry on here? Other than that do what you please.

Just fixed the "View Active Topics" link to the top left of screen. So you can now see posts in there.

Just a minor observation...

The "joined" heading underneath our avatars specifies a time after the date (either 5pm or 4pm from what I can tell). Sort of useless IMO...

Ok so that was being really picky

In general though, I'm stoked with the new forums and the fact that I can finally view them in IE8!

Hows the garage mod progressing?
I remember the installs over the existing forums were rather annoying over fresh install w/garage.

Im a bit concerned about the garage mod. Its not supported by for phpbb3 yet. Its still only a beta.... and the 43 page thread on the phpbb support forums indicates people are having a lot of problems with it :? Having said that, some have got it to work as well.

When I tested it on MCA v3 which we never went ahead with, I couldn't fault it.

I found 1 or 2 inconsistencies with the gif match up in some small areas, but mostly A1.
The thing has been in beta for ages, and doubt it will move, from memory the old one only made Alpha and we still have it going.

Either way though.
I think AusLancer (Ryan) did the garage mod on his site, havent heard anything bad... *shrug*

Alright, I'll give it a shot.

Also, what did you use for the front page of MCA? Was it a portal?

the front page on mca is simply a group of web pages. not a portal.

The v3 I starte to do had a portal, but was messy, and a lot of f'ing around.

PM sent.
