mr-charisma wrote:ENGINE BAY OVERHAUL - PHASE I

Been feeling like I need to make my mark on this car .. still feels like it's "Jeff's".. so I've taken my first steps to making it feel like "my own" ..

Ignore how dirty the engine bay is right now .. give me a couple of weeks & it shall have "the stink of cleannn" :P

Polished Intake manifold / TB & Painted Bolts in Anodized Metallic Red .. (The bolts for obvious reasons, need a bit of a touch up after being fitted :P)

Started work on Polishing the Turbo housing as well..

and.. my babies parked undercover together :P

DIY Guide for Polishing Intake Manifold / other parts to follow ..
This one took me the best part of a week to do, including non stop hard yakka during every waking hour of the last long weekend.. & it could be a lot better .. (will have to re-do it next time I take the manifold off..)

PHASE II - Coming soon...
WOW intense turbo job looks tough

that 'home made piping" your refering to is actually an arc intake chamber which i believe retails for a lot of money.

All I did was paint for Autosalon, + some Meguiars rubber polish and some plastic hose covers (red).

Topped out at about $100

Definitely not the best, but enough to help me in getting "Best Innovative Conversion" at CHCH AS '06
Now i know your car, you were in MSport right?

Rhys showed me pics of the car years ago when i was lookin at a turb conversion, after 2 engine changes i got over it

hated my engine bay so much after this pic, i stripped it out and rewired/hosed it, debadged the front then blew the motor up :D

Its an old post, i know, but where the hell did you get that reducer pipe for your pod ?? thats a 4" to 3" isnt it ?!

Im using a standard UAS silicone intake pipe (the bit with the bends - worth about $170 from memory). Lots of members are running them as they give you about the best result you can get. Part of this is because its well insulated from the engine heat. I find the ARC box to be fantastic. They retail for about $300. Only problem with them is that the enclosure is aluminium and so conducts heat and it sucks air direct from the engine bay. Thats why ive built a housing around it. Ive ducted cold air from the front bar into the enclosure surrounding the ARC box (at least that was the case until last week when the new bar went on). Currently im getting 133KW at the wheels (a stock FTO runs about 100KW). Apart from the turbo boys, I only know of one other naturally aspirated FTO that is getting higher figures than me and thats Azas (apologies if there are others), but then his figures were done with a track cat (which gives you about 10KW extra). So all in all, my setup must be pretty good.

Do you have any current pics of your engine bay? Would love to see how it looks now :) Your last pics links have broken :(
