...and the work continues.
I had to work this weekend so I only got 5 hours on the Galant.
Jobs done...
- Disconnect front ABS sensors
- Remove front hubs, upper control arms and struts.
- Drain coolant
- Remove radiator, fans and hoses.
- Remove intake pipes, air box and some turbo pipes
- Remove battery and battery tray
- Unplug transmission wiring (That speed sensor plug was a real bitch, who puts a retainer clip on a plug that hard to get too!)
- Disconnect gear select cable
- Remove headlights, center grill and front bumper
Pics...
This hose was siliconed on
All the electrical conduit has completely rotted
Anybody know what this thing is attached to the negative battery terminal?
Next will be transmission removal...

They are 16" factory alloys made by Enkei.

That's a LOT of work. I'm impressed, Phil! I still stand by my decision that you should put that 6A13 in the FTO

They are a good looking rim. Do you know the width?
Also please take millions of photos when you do the wavespring change.
BTW, do the FTO autos not have the same wavespring issue?

The work continues...
Today...
- Drained transfer case
- Removed tailshaft
- Removed center member and both anti-roll mounts
- Removed starter motor
- Removed left hand transmission mount
- Removed drive plate bolts and transmission mounting bolts
- Couldn't remove transmission???
The transfer case seems to be hitting against the engine, stopping the transmission from coming out.
Might have to remove the exhaust and the transfer case, will look again tomorrow.

Thanks and yes.
I might also look at doing some transmission strengthening, there is a section in the box that can be made stronger with a couple of small retaining welds.

Good stuff bestie!
How are you liking working on the VR4 compared to the FTO?

Working on the Galant is a bit moar of a challenge but still very simular to working on the FTO.
I am enjoying it and I am enjoying working in the new shed, I can just leave everything scattered around at the end of the day.
It is also great being able to take my time to get this project done.
