How did you arrive at that conclusion? I'm sure our resident race car driver will disagree

Stock GPX rotors are known for warping, but replace that and then you're sweet...

Where are you coming up with these conclusions??? They're the same rotors used on the early Evo and Pajeros!

I think you lot are dealing with 15 year old rotors that have been machined a dozen times.

Hmm, I just remember that mine were warped when I got them, and a couple mechanics I went to around that time mentioned it was common.
Happy to be corrected!

Ive heard it a few times, that they tend to warp. Was talking to Lawso about it the other day actually.

Fair enough. As bass said, ive heard from two mechanics that it they tend to warp. Although youre probably right about it being because theyre old. Learning!

Ohhhhhh, ok.

So GPX brakes are fine then... :troll:

There are 2 mechanics that know what an FTO is?
The guy I had doing my driveshaft was ever so insitent he had worked on 100s of FTOs, including the "very common" 5spd tip.
Was funny when the driveshaft didn't work....

Back to topic.
I'll keep a look for you Akys, if I spot a nice bodied example will let you know.

Will uprade the brake regardless anyway.

update from NRMA. I'll only get around $3000 back after they deduct this and that. Spoke to Suzitech, they say they will help me out. So the plan now. Get a registered FTO and pull everything out ftom the curent ones and go ahead with the conversion still.

What do you guys think? Or better off getting a galant.

Ouch :(
What else did they take out?
Do you get to hand in your plates/rego for a refund? And green slip?

thats the plan right now. get an FTO with good body. engine condition or transmission not an issue. then do the conversion

Haven't you already paid this? Or are you paying monthly? Make sure you get a full itemised list.

How much rego did you have left? You should get a doc from the insurer which you can take to the RTA to refund the remaining reg. This will then automatically trigger an equivalent refund from your green slip insurer.

How long? Depends on the insurer. But shouldn't take more than a few weeks I wouldn't think.

I did that recently & there's nothing automatic about it

Take your plates into the RTA & they'll issue you a notice of disposal, then in 'a few weeks' time they'll post you a refund cheque (I know right, what f**king year is it???) You then send the notice of disposal to your Greenslip provider & they too will post you a cheque.

lol, always the way.

But yeah, I would buy a good bodied FTO, rip out the neat stuff from your now wreck.
Do the conversion and toss in the good parts from wreck.

thats the plan right now. Pull parts off the wreck(engine, transmission components, handling stuff, bits and pieces) and wreck the ride as it will be in the way. then work on the halfcut, see what needs to be done, then hunt for a FTO,even if the car have a dinner plate i don't care. i still have my own wheels. Auto...i'll just do the second manual conversion....no sunroof this time. Even if its a GR i'll still take it. replaced with GPX brakes, put my coilovers in it, struts, make the FTO "MY" FTO again.
