My liquid/air core has just arrived in Perth today, cleared customs and now out for delivery ahead of schedule - was only dispatched on Monday from the states :)
It's now been assigned for delivery - with Auspost, i've been told to expect it on monday......

Should I put some of that heat sink putty stuff on the core about an inch back from where I will be welding to my flange to protect the core?
And if that's a good idea where can I get some from, tried toolmart but they don't stock it.

I've DHL'd a few things from the states and uk and they've been quick to get here, unfortunately they typically then get outsourced to Auspost for the local part and take just as long as the international bit!

Oh my god the core has just arrived! Probably one of the few times anyone will say this but well done Auspost.

Looks to be very good quality and remember this is designed for liquid/air it's not just an intercooler core - supposed to be important due to the channel sizes iirc.

And some mockup shots of what the whole lot will look like when i've welded/brazed it all together:

I so do hope that I don't mess this bit up, and it's a shame that no-one will see those beautiful welds on the core again and only see my frankenstein-esque ones.

I'm going to add temp senders to the charge cooler to keep an eye on before and after air temps. They are just the small cheap digital gauges that are for PC use but i've used them before on the last car and they are ok, had them in the lower din under the stereo mounted to a gloss black acrylic blanking plate and would probably do the same.

Question though is should I also fit them to the charge cooler water end tanks if I have room in my din slot (4 gauges just for the charge cooler, 2 for air 2 for water) or is this overkill and would it look silly?

That looks great :D , but I have a question :roll: would it not restrict air flow?
I know that the air is getting pushed in there and will find it's own way but it would slow it down some.

It would restrict airflow yes just like an intercooler does, but you are supposed to get less pressure drop with these liquid/air cores - something like 0.1psi drop instead of 0.5psi upwards.
In my application due to my choice of charger (which i'm already going to be pushing past it's normal operating capacity at high rpm due to over-running it) I need as little pressure drop as possible. Also don't want to have to pressurise the pipes that would be leading to and from an intercooler which is something that always concerned me on my last build.

Or do you see a flaw in my plan that I wouldn't hit if I went with a front mount intercooler?
Or are you thinking yes of course there will be a restriction but it's better to have the restriction way before it enters the intake plenum?

Very interested in these temp sensors. What voltage are they? Being PC I'd expect 5v?
Where do you wire them into the FTO for a 5v power feed?
