I can't spell it out any more clearly than DOUBLE STANDARDS.
Let me give you an example that may explain what people are trying to say...
Two people one young one old both going for the same job both have the same diploma the young person has just gotten the diploma the old person has 10 years EXPERIENCE in the same role...
The young person will be disadvantaged and the older person will probably get the job because of their experience this is not double standards this is just how life works but you still have the right to voice your opinion I just don't think that people are closed minded on this subject...
(It's quite possible that the example I just gave is horsesh!t but it makes sense to me

)
But you can look at it another way and say the young person will get the job because the company will pay less wages to them and in their time with the company they will gain their experience and it would have cost the company less then hiring the experienced old man.
Valid point however that is a variable that is not relivant as in essence this thread is a discussion about experience versus the lack of and why that disadvantages the inexperienced driver. I was trying to make the point that in life you will find that experience will almost always be regarded as an advantage over inexperience hence why they make it more risky for 'P' platers to break the law. They are just trying to limit the damage and deaths caused by young drivers which is a high percentage.
I think I'm starting to repeat myself
Just remember all us old farts were young at one point and I'm guessing most thought just as you do but most people wisen up as they get older.

Interesting discussion everyone. At the end of the day, everyone is entitled to have (and voice) their own opinion, and everyone else will hopefully respect that
I think the 'older, wiser' members definitely do have experience on their side, and of course are (in general) a lot more sensible. That's life.
But I think they also fall into the trap of 'if it doesn't affect me, I don't give a f*ck'. Sooner or later though, the RTA is going to start screwing you all too; and that's a scary thought for us all!
