I remember about the time I signed up here there was a young asian woman who's ex had smashed her car into a truck (truck vs car, or car vs truck), that thread was about 11 pages (may have been less) full of helpful hints etc.

I am thinking the length of that thread had something to do with her having a photo of herself as her avatar

Just kidding, back to topic, have you asked to check out the carparks CCTV coverage? It may be helpful.

EDIT:

Perhaps you should take some of our Melbourne locals up on their offers of a more violent approach. If a car load of guys confronted the munters hanging at the mall and put some... ahem... ** pressure ** on them, they may spill the beans. Least then you would know if someone in their group did it, or perhaps they may have seen that other idiot.

It is probably far too late for CCTV, as most places over-write it after 7 days, but check with your mall security, you may be surprised what they can find out.

i did ask but its a new westfeild shopping centre in melbourne and they are on a "budget" and they cant afford cameras for the outside for another year on so.
Even the cameras inside the shopping centre are not even good as-well they are shocking !

I spoke to head on security and the best they would do was take photos AND give me a brochure on security, grr they are useless no offense.

Im taking my car in tomorrow night or monday its going in for a full re-spray, im with gio and they were shocking and pushy they wanted it to get done with them and blend it all it on every panel ? i said no way ill find my own panel beaters and i did so im happy now but not going to have my car for 2 - 3 weeks

which sucks
BUT its worth it to have it all fresh and new

Yeah im still trying to find out who it is more slowly getting there, but then lately more people from the shopping centre are saying that all there cars are getting keyed a BIT and kicked it so makes me more confused and there is a boy as-well now with an fto works at the centre and said someone chipped the car and kicked it a little so yeah

idiots with jealous problems !

I would hate to say it, but if the punks see your car fresh again, it will happen again.

I have an idea that may help you. Have a chat with that other FTO owner and convince him to get one too, mounting it on your dashboard looking out (as he could too) and parking your cars facing each other in the carpark will give you a nice field of view for both vehicles. The idea is that you would then have a view of both your vehicles.

Get a bigger memory card than comes with it (double it) so that it covers an entire 8 hour shift and you can just plug it into your computer and view the footage at fast forward if something happens.

Jaycar would sell these sorts of items too I reckon, check them out. Quite an outlay for just a camera etc, but considering you may lose a no claims bonus and your excess may increase, it may at least get the bastards up to their necks in the proverbial.

CLICKY maybe just an alarm that would notify you if someone is near your car so you can run out and grab a cell phone picture...

By the way, I used to do Casino surveillance, I relied on good CCTV coverage hence why I lean towards it here heh

oh thats a good idea about the camera well im going to start looking into that and try find time to go down to jaycar or call for the camera.
be good to have incase my car gets keyed again, omg dont say that i park my car in another area more people around if it happens again ill go nuts.

i used to work at parramatta westfields nsw (very busy) and every thursday you'd have all fully sick boys running arouind the carpark. I ended my shift one night and a few of them were resting on my rear bumper smoking (like wtf?!) and from that moment on i never parked inside the mall on thursday incase they choose to do something fully sick to it.

The only good way to prevent damage is to avoid the spots where theres a risk of it getting unwanted attention. I would rather park somewhere safe and walk an extra 5mins to my destination then have it in a corner in the parkin lot.

Although the camera is a good idea, its also another reason for someone to break nto the fto and steal it

Yes, up to 3 weeks he said maybe even 2 weeks but a lot of work he said it being done and his going to do a really good job

so im happy with that and they are going to but my leather seats in as-well for me lol finally had them for a couple of months.

Im going to go past in a few days ill take some photos.

If i did get the camera do u reckon they would see it ? hmmm well im looking around at the moment to find something decent, like im so scared now to bring my car back just to know hey this could happen again. But i do want to find and get a camera now or ill be checking my car every 5mins!

Yeah i know like park the car and walk but honestly the shopping centre that i am at has no safe spots, no cameras, no under cover parking its all outside and around the shopping centre and its still getting built and getting bigger.
If i was going to park somewhere far more likely if would get keyed again, so all im doing now is park near front doors (kind of) next to workers from the shopping centre.

Cant believe how people have the nerve to do this to peoples cars makes me so angry that they can get away with it to.

Well my uncle sent me photos of my car so far doing the major areas where it was keyed on the car then going on to doing the whole thing !
But so far its going really good and i will probley get it sooner then 3 weeks

Also brought today the lcd screen for the car one that detaches, touch screen put that in when i get the car back its going to get booked

i was wondering the black plastic gutter mold where the side of the roof is above the door, i dont know the name lol well i was wondering mines faded a bit of colour i need new ones where do i get them or how can i fix it? everyone says that they need to blend or something i dont understand lol and if they re-spray it they will just fade again. hmmm any one know?
