Lol anyway, if you get a pod filter, it legally has to be in a box. Although my pod filter is unboxed and it's been like that for the past 2 and a half years

It's one of those little things which a cop might book you for you were swearing at him and callin him a dickhead lol otherwise don't see it as a problem (if a cop went as far as looking under the hood, u must have done some real f*cked up sh*t to begin with!)

But legally has to be boxed.

HIDs are legal. Legal is 4k (white). Although 6k (white/blue or 8k(blue) are still fine. If you started going towards 10k(Blue/purple) or 12k(purple) then you'd be asking for it, otherwise they're fine.

and if i cover it will it loose performance?

HID's are legal, thats good = ) i might get the 6k white one i just duno how to hook it up (i've seen it done before so i'll figure it out) = )

Anyway, to try and answer the questions ...

Some pods do come with a cone cover(like a shield), but yeah, they can get more cash out of you if you have to buy it separate ... I think K&N had one that was all inclusive, but it cost over $250 (the last time I checked) ...

Why is a cover needed.... To stop the POD sucking in the hot air that is running around in the engine bay ... A good option is to box it, and run a pipe from the front bar to the box, feeding in more cold air... Gives it the term a CAI (Cold Air Intake) .... Most of us don't have covers over the pod because:

1) We don't race, so don't worry about the hot air the POD sucks in at idle
2) We couldn't be bothered to pay for or make one

I think it is actually illegal (and no that is not a sick bird - An ill Eagle

) to have HID's on a car without the projector headlights... So you may get into trouble ... Off memory, all the FTO's have projector lights, but the HID's get taken out at compliance ... So if they are taken out then, it is to meed the ADR rules ... Which would then confirm it is not legal to have them re-installed.

Angel eyes .... Aftermarket eyes, are illegal also ... From what I have been told... This is because: -

1) It was not a stock option
2) You have had to modify the light to fit them

I think they can be deemed legal if an engineer signs off on them though, and confirms that the actual angel eye does not impact the visibility, or direction of the light through the lens....

HID's totally illeagel.

Pod you should box otherwise theres no real point in fitting it in the first place apart from noise. But who gives a sh*t about noise when your getting raped by and excel cause you sucking in more hot air than a................. something that sucks in a lot of hot air

Lol with the HID's I was talking about what the legal brightness of them is.

I can almost gaurantee you though that you will NOT have any problems with HIDs.

Legally HIDs have to be factory fitted to be legally on your car. However I would be willing to bet a years worth of pay that cops don't know sh*t about FTOs not having HIDs factory. That's why I said if you stick to 6k, you'll be right, it'll just look like any other car out there that comes stock factory fitted with HIDs.

As long as they're pointing at the ground and not over 6k, pretty sure you're 99.999999999% gauranteed nobody will ever even mention it.

hey kitty, about the box, its better to have it covered i rekon, cause you get abit more ressponse. I covered my pod with the stock factory box but you lose abit of sound, mivec not as loud as it used to be

If you ask your b.f maybe he could like you know, help you out with the pod and everything

For the HIDs, im running 8000k which is kind of like blue and so far havent got a defect for them yet. If you like you could ask your b.f and he could like order you a set from ebay which is 6000k, reduce your chance of getting a defect. He could also install them for you as well if you like.
