Did it have the correct type and amount of fluid in it?

Yes. New Dextron 3 fluid helped, but didnt fix the issue (managed to get it to reverse a whole foot before it slipped). There is a slipping noise there as well. No shavings or any metal in the oil though, so is strange.

So you found another 5spd tip? Or a manual?

Another 5sp tip because I can get it in exchange for parts.

I wish, parts are hard to come by here in Tassie at a decent price

I can send you stuff. Freight may be a bit for larger parts, but rest should be OK

Started a 100k service on my neighbours 97 CE Mirage today.
I got him to purchase timing belt, tensioner, cam seal, crank seal, atl belt, ps belt, spark plugs, leads, rocker gasket, oil filter, trans filter, fuel filter, oil, trans fluid, coolant, ps fluid, brake fluid.

Found a bit of extra stuff that needs attention too
Leaking water pump, leaking trans valve cover, leaking top/bottom rad hoses.

I already stripped the engine/timing belt, changed crank/cam seal, removed water pump, removed/repaired/installed trans valve cover (which required rad removal), drained oil/trans/coolant.

He has to purchase water pump, hoses, thermostat and an extra bottle of trans fluid (he only got 4l, I have already drained 6.5l).

Is there anything you won't do, Phil?

With the picture Phil posted earlier, I can see how this could be a time consuming activity.
