I had an idea about a small (but not particularly simple) way to sort of modernise the FTOs profile slightly. Will likely end up being nothing more than a pipe dream due to the amount of custom work I imagine it would require, but I still think it works nice enough, so I did a quick mock-up and comparison.

The C pillar might be crucial to rigidity though plus you'd need to find a suitable window.
Not sure if it is worth the effort considering the relatively small change

Also, never gonna happen.

Yeah, basically. Too much effort once the inside is there as well. But I do like the look of it.

Yes it certainly would look better but the cost/benefit is not there.
With a few tweaks the FTO could've been such a great looking and driving car... it almost feels like Mitsubishi wanted it to fail.

I think it was just one of those niche things, in a time before niche things weren't financially viable. I think comparing it to the GTO is a good example. They're both coupes of the same era, but although the FTO does without AWD and boost, it also does without the added weight all the extra gadgetry of the GTO brings. Looks-wise perhaps there are things we might change, but considering the age of the overall shape (even before the facelift) I think they did pretty damn well.

What suspension does this have?
I tried putting my e7 wheels on mine last weekend and the front tyre hits on spring perch on the fronts.

Coilovers will fix that

Yep, I'm on BCs. If your struts are the Volvo KYB replacements the spring perch is lower than stock. You'll need a lower profile tyre if you wanna run them

Gotcha. Not sure I want to put coilovers on just to fit a set of wheels! They are in the for sale section if anyone is keen!

Nah, tyres would be all you need to change. I
think that Lawso was able to run a 225/45, but you'd be pretty safe with a 215 width.

That looks shoddier than Toblerone's manual conversion
