Just roll the guards flat like matt did stretch tyres a little bit and get coil overs / camber arms and it will look great

Yours will be fine prob with bjk is they stick out almost two inch. Sure stretch tyres and coilovers with massive camber if ya wanna have sh*t handling but it still wont solve issue

Well I can't afford coilovers at any rate, haha. Bolt on over fenders are starting to appeal to me though, if I can find someone to do them cheap enough. Since I don't really want the car a great deal lower than it is, it would mean I could get the fender gap nice and flush. But the wheels, from memory, didn't stick out a ridiculous amount, and I don't know how small they make fenders. I didn't have much luck searching the net last night.

I'm not as far as to use Sahin's "F*ck it" Squidward, but dammit if I ain't getting close.

So, rule number one when dealing with insurance:
Don't deal with insurance.
This seems to be my problem: I either think/research too much, or not enough! After already telling the shop to send back the money for the parts that I would be buying, and then buying those parts, and they're all here and ready to go... and then insurance won't reimburse for private sales.
Which wouldn't be a big problem with the front bar (as I got that from a "legit" business), except I've been trying to claim more than I paid. I could tell insurance that the shop told me that I'd get reimbursed what
they would've gotten paid for the parts, but in calls since then it's been clear that it needs to be what
I paid. So for me to turn around and say "Oh, actually I got the bar from this place, and it was actually this amount" might be worse than just continuing as I have been. At the moment, I'm waiting to hear back from dstocks as to whether he has an ABN. If he does, then yay. And if not (and I somewhat expect he won't, given how things have panned out so far) then I'll have to muster my arguments, haha.
I can't do much about the legal side of the private sale (whatever that is, the guy who called me this afternoon didn't really mention in detail. When I asked for whose benefit the tax invoice/ABN was, he just said it was for legal reasons.)
But in terms of insurance wanting to be sure that I won't blow the reimbursement money on hookers and cocaine, then I hope I've got that covered. i.e.:
- already told the shop to return the money to insurance for parts.
- already bought said parts and can supply photographic evidence (who knows?)
Everything would've been a lot easier if I could've got the shop to take insurances money.

But I guess they would've had similar problems to what I'm having now I guess. Wish me luck peoples.

Just put heaps of negative camber on those suckers and get the top of the tyres under the guards

Only if you wanna buy me camber adjustable strut tops! I've already spent $1154 I'm not sure if I'll be able to get back, and there's still some to pay for the prep of the bar once the car goes into the shop. Not to mention tyres, haha. I'd ask where my money went, but it went to brake pads, rotors, a rear strut brace, and new rims.
Also, I don't think I'm low enough to tuck tyre, though I'm going to have less gap if I run the 45 profiles.

Just save up for front tops.

Which ones do I get though? The only ones I've seen are the Tein ones on Camskill. Can we get those in Aus? Or is there another brand people use?

Camskill is your cheapest option for them. I searched for weeks trying to find anywhere that was cheaper.
And with normal shocks/struts you can only get 1 degree negative camber with adjustable strut tops.

So, unless I'm upgrading the struts at the same time it isn't quite worth it? Wonder how much shipping would be from the UK asides...

I see you are hinting at something, sir. May have to follow that up once it comes time to get these wheels on.

Car is booked for repairs from Monday next week.

Hoping the prime and prep of the bar doesn't end up costing too much more than was first estimated. Guy at the shop also assured me that I should be reimbursed even if it was a private sale, worst case I guess is that I have to wait until the work is done and the shop can provide me an invoice to give to insurance.

It makes it a lot easier anyway. Fingers crossed that it can happen before then though, as I'd really like that money back in my bank account...

Hmm! Seems PB Brakes also do a coilover kit for the FTO, reasonably priced too...

As well as custom spring rates and a few other things.

Car's in the shop, and fortunately hire car is available. Introducing my fully hektik ride for the next five days.
Featuring many things the FTO doesn't!
- A clock right next to the speedometer! Never be without the time of day!
- Left side fuel filler!
- Fully automatic transmission!
- An exhaust note that sounds like a fat man blowing raspberries through a giant tin can!
That being said, the front clearance is great and the indicator stalk has a very satisfying action.

Yeah, I'mma drag Sahin. Uleh or whateer.
I think he might win though, this thing has like 250,000kms and no guts whatsoever, haha.
