Yea the thing that will annoy you the most is doing repetitive work. You'll probably be stuck doing a LOT of general services and inspections over fixing issues and modding etc. I found half the time when i was there all i was doing is servicing while im watching others replace engines and stuff and i was getting so jealous
I want to fix cars not maintain them  but i guess it just comes with the industry and i got to to do it

Daniel2019 wrote:The hardest stuff isnt actually doing work to cars its more the business side of things and learning how a different garage to my own works. For example if I was to do the same work at home I could do it my way, where as here it has to be how it has to be. Its probably not a bad thing because Im being taught good habits and all that kind of thing, but as of now Im still much more comfortable in my own garage but that should change over time.
+1 on that Daniel

Access to the extra tools and equipment still doesn't compare to working on your own or with mates at your own pace, using your own methods and at your own home.

Good luck again buddy, I'm sure you will enjoy the journey :D

Right now its taking the enjoyment out of cars for me. I dont know if its just the change over to a workplace environment or what. I do like it, but its really not as great as I thought it would be. Everything is always in a rush and has to be perfect...

I havent really learnt anything as of yet in terms of cars except that I hate germans.

Gonna stick it out for a while and see if its better when I settle in, but for now... meh.

Keep at it mate, you will soon get into a routine and feel more comfortable in the job. But don't forget the noobies always get the sh*t jobs regardless of what they are doing.

Its not that. I dont mind doing oil and sh*t like that. Its just that the whole working environment is taking away the enjoyment of working on cars for me. Everything has to be the businesses way, which is completely understandable because the business has to run and make money. ehhh..

The reason it has to be the businesses way is so people like Lawso don't do it their way.

Hey Daniel, I have had many ups and downs during my apprenticeship.
You will get used to the workshop environment.
You are only there for a set amount of time and believe me it will go quick.
For now the tradies know the correct way to do everything ;) , just go with their flow. I know it sucks a bit but it is the same for all mechanic apprentices. I can do anything mechanical and I still have to do it their way, if I question their methods I get in the sh*t too.
At the end of it you will be the tradie, you can then do everything how you want and your apprentices will be doing everything your way. Or we can break the cycle and listen to our apprentices. ;)

Do your time, get your trade papers and then decide the next step in your life. Then you will always have a trade behind you.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Lame. :(

Understandable though. If you're not enjoying it then it's a lot tougher to try and stick it out.
