That will cost a bucket load to repair. How do you expect a latch to actually work properly when it looks like your panels aren't lined up? Making the situation even worse using a limited aftermarket bonnet which I highly doubt will match the OE dimensions.

Hope you get it sorted out without spending too much, but either way that's really f*cked. The windscreen is the least of the worries, the roof is very concerning. Wouldn't wish this upon anybody. Just goes to show that if getting aftermarket bits, get the necessary precautionary items that go with it (bonnet pins in this case).

Any ideas about final figures on fixing this?

Wtf are you talking about? All my panels are all lined up perfect, the catch is easily replaced its bolt on, and no panels were damaged bar the roof which now only had minor cosmetic flat and low spots after I pushed it up. The carbon bonnet lined up better than my stock bonnet, and
still does as it is structurally fine, just a few scrapes and a crack on the underside not visible from the top.
Cost is 100 to replace the windscreen, and won't be more than a few hundred to pop out the roof its a thin metal skin, and bonnet is pinched off the blue var for now so free, a few hundred to repair the carbon one...

Yea subby cheers mate, shouldn't be more than 500 down the road but we will see. Was looking at pins that morning too, kicking myself I didn't wait for em but I seem to be the only one qith problems.

i work with this stuff and there is no way in the world i would trust a fibreglass bonnet with out bonnet pins. seen way to many latches and stuff tear outta bonnets. good luck with the repairs to the bonnet and car

Its carbon fibre with some fiberglass reinforcing, and the hook on the bonnet is further reinforced and is still completely solid, was a latch fail or a freak accident by not latching properly somehow.
Either way bonnet pins BEFORE it goes back on - and Matt was meant to ask you when he called you last but will you touch the bonnet to repair it?
Would need some minor fiberglassing on the back near the top to cover the minor crack and the very edges as you can see in the photos to be re-attached (i have them still), and the little nicks as well (if they need repairing or just sanding/repainting?
As a fiberglasser, what would be the ballpark on fixing it, or would you need to inspect it in person to give a rough idea?

it might be carbon on top bud, but really its just a fibreglass bonnet just like matts boot lid he use to have, it was a carbon finish but it was really just a fibreglass boot lid. u'll find if it was a proper carbon bonnet the cost would of been nearly 3 - 4 thousand dollars.but yeah on another note i'll be able to fix it but u'll have to bring it around before i quote u bud coz its something that'll have to be fixed properly and i'll wanna see the amount of damage. matt has my number and address so u can either get it off him or just come around sometime with him

But yea Dwayne said it was quote - worth a fortune and even if it costed 5-600 to repair it would be worth it, its also painted white clearly so it kind of beats the purpose of having a 'carbon finish' if its just covered up?
Eh either way, ill bring it round sometime if i can get it there somehow - holding a DIY day next saturday maybe you can come round then?

i don't have a spare car at the moment bud my fto is currently fully stripped waiting for a fresh lick of paint. but yeah drop over sometime when u have a chance and i'll have a look at it

tie it down with strings
through the engine block's anchor and up the bonnet's vent holes on both sides.

30min on the phone to RACQ and its either 175 to flick across the blue cars windscren or 250 to replace the whole thing (those prices are if my seals are fucked and $30 needs to be paid for new ones) so hopefully 220 for a new windscreen.
550 from obriens - what a joke, others werent far behind with another place i rung today quoting me 200 just for the refit, with quite clear instructions that its not their fault if it breaks.

That's very odd. O'briens quoted me a good price on mine for either an artificial copy which was like $200 odd, or an original mitsubishi replacement for like $350..

LSV and Shannons have both insured my FTO with carbon boot and hood... No issues and no questions..

LSV replaced my CF hood..
