FTO AUSTRALIA

I really do wonder if it is the 1 day Auto Paint mob that use to be in Sydney (Silverwater, I think) ... They use to advertise heaps on TV, and as quicky as they appeared, they disappeared...

There seem to be a few of these places that popped up in the States as well .. So, it could be a rather reputable type of company .. With the body of the FTO being in good nick, plus him stripping parts off and not masking up, this could turn out quite well ..

The only thing you would worry about, is if they don't sand the car back and prep properly .. Cause you may not see that as a defect in the job for a while.. Other then that, if you see a run - Don't accept the job ... If you see it patchy - Don't accept the job ... - If you see orange peel - Well don't accept it ... And make em do it right...

At the end of the day, if they mess it up, paint is easy to fix... Would I risk it on an FTO .. Well maybe not, but if I had a cheaper car I would give it a shot...

There's no way I will accept the job if something is screwed up, I will have them do it over and over till it's right.

did you end up getting it done Mosti or when are you, so curious on there jobs lol

Just waiting for my old man to fix the cracks in the fiberglass lip....he's done it many times before and I've never tried so rather wait for him to do it..
Also, have to fix the small dents etc etc around the body.

Just waiting for his roster to change and there's time to do it.

The good thing is I've pulled $600 out and have it stashed away so it's not spent!

I'll defs post here once it's done so just keep a lookout

havent read this just saw the price
basicly ive been looking into getting mine sprayed and holden paint is $700 for 4litres so if there using good paint they will be doing the job for free

It would be sh*t paint along with a sh*t job

The guy I was looking at buying a Lancer off was involved in something similar to this. I quizzed him about how he could do a custom colour change (original in engine bay, and inside doors, boot ect) for so cheap and he was saying that they use cheapish paints, and that the paint job has imperfections...plus then he wasn't interested in doing an electric blue...he told me that it was because if I bailed no one else would want it, but I don't believe that for a second.

$600 sounds a bit cheap, one of the girls on the Sky-Line forum had her car (an R33 Coupe...so it's reasonably small) done for 2.5k and that was one of the cheapest she found, and it was done in stock Silver.

It sounds a bit dodgy. However I'd be interested to know...I have thought about getting my Skyline resprayed...to many Silver ones in Bendigo.

or save even more and do it your self would prob turn out the same lol

lol just give it a light sand and go over it with some supercheap cans, $40 and its done :thumbup:

I dunno thats why I resurrected it

theres actually a lot of interesting reads in here lol. Im finding early posts where more about modding but now a lot are about servicing as the car gets older.

I doubt anyone would risk their FTO ..

I'd defo take my mums car in as a test case though .. the paint has peeled off about 75% of the car... it's going to make a good practice respray car before I have at go at mine
