You need to concentrate on other more important areas like the cam covers, intakes headers and so on. the cables/hoses only play a very minor role in the bling factor. keep it up mate! :)
I agree somewhat and also disagree. Wouldn't say it is worse, but it could be better. The plastic on top of the cam cover should be painted IMO, perhaps whip it off, give it a clean, then primer it and paint it a metallic blue.

I would also paint the oil cap, the radiator cap, the reservoir caps (clutch/brake) and the washer bottle. Also the fusebox, paint that too.

That is all that I have done to mine and it makes a huge difference.

dunno what your on about mate lol, polishing the a.i.m and polishing/painting cam and rocker covers isn't a 10 minute job and i did say that they are up next ... i need more bling to go with the airbox lol, the blue is contrasted with the chrome/ polished look

what looked out of place before was the blue intake pipe on its own but now the blue covers spread the blue out abit more evenly

There was a website that does all types of chromed parts for the FTO bay, blingyourbay.com, as seen in the thread here, http://www.fto-ireland.com/forum/viewto ... num#p72015, but cant seem to get into their website now, shame. They did plenums, air con pipes, brackets, and I think fuse box covers. For the sake of approx AUS$200 it was well worth it for the plenum alone, compared ot all the hours you'd spend polishing it!
I myself havent touched my bay yet, but a polished plenum, maybe polished air con pipes, red hoses if they can be got, or else spray the existing ones with heat resistant paint (if possible), a sprayed engine cover and fuse box, and I reckon that would do nicely. Maintaining is no easy task I wouldnt think though as its one of the dirtiest places in the car, open to correction on that one!
While I will do something in time with my bay, I'm not pushed as yet cause in shows I dont fancy leaving my hood open cause who knows what will go missing.

LOL have fun. i remember back in aza's original thread ages ago that i was bitching because it was hard work and takes ages. but then you catch the bug and start sanding everything under the sun. air con pipes, the bonnet lifter... i even resanded my strut bar because charlie had Mivec written on it in liquid paper. Damn Fool :lol:

A few things;
Shouldn't use the aerosol degreasers you can get @ supercheap for $2 .. theres a reason it's so cheap
Shouldn't use high pressure hoses in the engine bay, especially after spraying the cheap degreaser .. the degreasers can wear away the protective sealant in the electrical plugs & then the high pressure water gets all up in there & starts making funny stuff happen
Dual wielding is aweasome.

1.) Get some liquid degreaser, the kind that is like a detergent - truckies use this stuff to clean their rigs.. it's less harmful to the electrical sealants etc..
2.) Get a heap of rags soaked in degreaser & dual wield
3.) Go ape S**t
4.) Wipe off degreaser with clean, damp rags, or if you have to , use a normal garden hose .. cover the air filter etc with plastic bags first though & tape it up.. if you don't have it boxed..
5.) A bit more hard work, & elbow grease .. but good result..
