steven, what's the stance on non-FTOs? I know i won't have my FTO by then, but i'd still like to take the old MGB out for a spin on the track, depending on how other commitments work out...
hmmm, reading those PDFs, i think i'd be both a little out of place AND very slow (lol seeing as the MG was dyno'd at about 40 bhp @ wheels - GO 35 year old engines!)
i think ill leave it this time, maybe ill come along when i actually have an FTO...
any car can come along however those that are going to be substantially slower than the rest (i.e very old cars) are a safety issue for all those on teh track and you'll have to speak directly to UAS regarding it.
you can add my GF fiona to that 'spectator' list...
quick question regardint he 'safety wear' for the day..
what kind of helmet is required, and anyone know where to source a cheap one(or will they have them available to rent on the day?)
(hopin to source a cheap open faced helmet...dont wanna be behind a mask all day )
Helmets complying with Australian Standard AS1698 are approved for CAMS events (6-9 Sched D). Helmets bearing this standard must not be modified from original specifications. The manual only states that for Kart races a full face helmet must be worn.
The other thing to remember will be clothing, must be full length clothing (ie - long sleeve shirt/ trousers), pref cotton (or a racing suit if you have one) - not polyester or synthetic materials... and just in case you were feeling saucy... high heeled shoes are prohibited along with thongs and roman sandals...
YIKES!! I did actually learn something from reading the CAMS manual.... and I mean ALL of it!!
uuummm hello dave!!! you gonna drive my fto.... I don't think so!!!! actually i've had a few issues with mine over the past few days.... starts up and then just stops... not sure if its an alternator issue which is effecting the battery charging... so i'll definately be a passenger on this day....

it's probably just a dirty stepper motor... easy to fix....
apparently(dont take this as gospel till one of the 'main' people reply)
but there will be 2 groups headin to the track, one which consists of those participatin which will be leavin sydney at some god awful hour...
the other, at a somewhat more acceptable hour will leave, which will consist of the spectators....that way no one is 'solo' for a whole 2hr drive or whatever it is to wakefield....
Hence, should be easy to find and get around when there is some kind of organisation as a group
