Other than KYB Excel G shocks, what other shocks are worth considering?

The oil pan got hit and caused a leak which means headaches. Felt my over 40,000km Excel G are getting soft at the front. So thinking of trying out other brands, if any!

Finally going to do the bushes on the rear of the car. These puppies are the nolathane versions of the rear trailing arm front bush. Adjustable to as you can see by the offset centre hole.

$75 from Auto One

hmm, I'm confused, I bought these ones from Camskill, seem to match up the part number, but very different to your ones?
And mine don't have the outer steel tube??
Edit: I guess one's offset, the other's not. But more concerned about no outer steel tube.
Ben, when you removed these, was there still an outer steel tube in the actual arm?

Some different manufacturers will specify whether the original steel sleeve is to be removed or retained. We see it a lot when ordering parts from SuperPro, as you need to specify what style of bush you need/want. Removing the original sleeve can sometimes be a right prick of a job, but it tends to last a little better when the new bush is moulded to the steel casing. That's just my experience from working in a suspension shop though ;)
I'll have an FTO one day... i swear!

until then:
1. 2001 Merc-Benz A160 (porta-loo on wheels)
2. 2007 Peugeot 307 TDi (more fun than you'd expect)
3. 2009 Mitsubishi Triton Di-D (a monster in its own right)
4. 1992 Nissan NX Coupe (club car and project car)
5. 1996 Holden SB Barina - "The Nugget"
6. 1996 Jeep XJ Cherokee Sport - The Budget Build
7. 2010 Toyota Landcruiser 76 Series - V8 Goodness... - Build coming soon.
8. 1990 Audi 90 manual - The delightfully dignified daily driver

Yeah there is a sleeve on the arm as well. I'm think those will press into it as the side face is a bit narrower & the diametre slightly bigger than the ones I used.

Hmm, so looking at the last pic, I can see how this will work now. Ben can you remember when you pressed the old ones out whether the rubber centre pressed out separate from the outer sleave. Looking at the pics it looks like the rubber is pretty well moulded to this sleave?

Yes it was moulded to the sleeve, very much like an engine mount insert. Oh and it was a f&@king cock to press out

Just dug out the instructions that came with them and had a read.

It looks like my ones just go in the arm housing only, no outer sleeve.

Hey guys!

Not sure if i should put this here or in its own thread so mods feel free to move 8O

So went in for a WoF (Warrant of Fitness) today! Was really good, got 20c off per litre for that and 4 cents off when I bought new Oil, Filter, Petrol Injector cleaner, and Antifreeze coolant! So like 24 cents off a litre Oh and petrol prices have dropped! YAY now 98 only costs like $2.279 or 2.039 with the discount!

But anyway... money is only half of the topic of interest. The main part is the WoF and its requirements (BTW, every time I go and get a WoF I get complimented on the car:D I Love it!... Wow... I'm getting off topic...)

Anyway. Thankfully had a really nice guy who passed the car, and pointed out moisture around the front passenger shock absorber. He said that before the next WoF it will need to be replaced. So I thought... maybe its time to do a full suspension kit upgrade? I don't necessarily want to lower the car... yet. So adjustable's are looking promising so that I can lower it now, but lift it back up when I get the body kit and new rims as well as many other benefits

However, they come with a huge price and the need for a Cert Plate...

Anyone have any recommendations or comments about this? I've seen a fully adjustable kit for around $1k not including shipping and a Tien Racing kit for around 1.5k not Incl. Shipping.
Dont really have that much...I mean, for that I can have body kit!!!

So that's the delio...
Oh and I need to reseal my foggie pods Had a bit of water in them... hopefully will be sanding the inside to remove the vertical lines making it clear!

Nick.

EDIT: And no I haven't quite read through this whole thread yet so sorry If you need to repeat a little. I'll get there eventually :salut:

Is there a reason those trailing arm bushes have holes through the sides of them? And it seems they are offset as well, how do you know the right way of fitting?

The holes in combination with the grade of urethane determine the amount of twist the bush will give.

The offset hole is positioned to the front of the car, pushing the whole arm towards the rear of the car, increasing the wheelbase. Increasing the wheel base is supposedly good for stability. However I didn't notice any change.

I'm not surprised tbh  It's difficult to "feel" some changes to the vehicles done by adjustable bushes. We fit Castor Correction kits to the fronts of some patrols/cruisers and you wouldn't know the difference, except that it comes up on a wheel alignment sheet. That being said, those bushes don't look terribly far from factory (however I could be wrong). Generally, the more you offset something, the greater effect it will have. :D
