Spent 4 hours this arvo, realigning the bonnet & bumper... which included moving the intercooler down 10mm

I got it all pretty close thou

(compared to its angry cat state before)

Also polished the lights. Dont worry Aza, they need more lol

It's looking a lot better now.
We will have to set up a day to do the lights and pipes for you.

Will you need to add vents to the bonnet for cooling? I imagine it get's a bit toastie under there?

Yeah, it gets super toasty under there. She started getting a little too warm in yesterdays 39 degrees. Am contemplating the EVO style bonnet. Venting aside, it will also give me the room to put on the VR4 engine cover. At the moment it wont fit, only got the GR one on.

I have a roll of the adhesive heat shield if you need it also .. Think it was about $100 for the roll ... Would be enough to cover a whole bonnet...

I was going to use it on my f/g Evo III bonnet... but yeah, unfortunately the day over the bonnet blew up was when the part came in ... And since it was special order I had to pay for it ...

I'll see how I go with the bonnet first, plus I've also got one of Dwaynes front bars going on, that should get the air moving in there.

ive done pretty well to stay out of it but id steer clear of the evo bonnet if i was you... u know the futher back the vents the better...

lift the bonnet latches up. raise mine up half a cm with spacers and removed the rubber water seal.

engine temps are noticably lower when you open the bonnet after a good drive.

also induction noise is really loud now too

You mean the bonnet hinges J ? The latch is at the front holding the bonnet down =/. I've also removed my hood rubber seal at the back but haven't raised it yet (contemplating).

Not too many 39 degree days though.

btw, you'll want to get longer bolts aswell if you plan on doing it.

& move any wires being earthed to the firewall

The more I think about it, the more I dislike the EVO bonnet. As per usual with most aftermarket addons for the FTO, it ruins the lines.

I like the vents the Kaze bonnet has on it.... but move them further towards the centre.... photoshoppers?

Took her down to the shop yesterday to gas up the air con lines for the first time. Unbelievably, after all the bending & moving of all the lines to fit everything else in the engine bay, it had no leaks!

Unfortunately the compressor wouldn't turn on

I have to dig out the loom again & find the trigger wire for it that we forgot all about. Then its gotta be connected into one of the Haltech outlets & then activated from within the Haltech.

Also pink slipped it & re-rego'ed it.

Also had a discussion about getting her engineered. Speaking to the engineer, there's a number of things I need to get sorted prior to attempting it. I've gotta hide all the 'adjustable items' - I can't be seen to have the boost controller, adjustable FPR or ECU! While the ECU is already hidden, the boost controller wont be hard to hide, moving the FPR will be a bit of a bitch. He was pretty good about it thou, while it'll cost almost a grand, he'll certify all the other mods, like the brakes & even down to the 18 inch wheels (which with 45 series tyres, are more than 1 bigger in total diamtre than the stock tyre / rim combo - so need to be done.) Look out! I might even be able to get insurance!

Also contemplating removing the rear seat & seat belts. I can then have it reclassified as a 2 seater - which means I can use fixed back buckets seats... something I've really been wanting. That also means I'll be able to legally have a half cage (4 point) padded & installed.

Re the engineering cert.. i would've thought he would want everything stock or mild before giving it...or is this a mate lol ?

When we had to get the eng cert. done for the supercharged corolla, the half cut went in, along with stock box, i/c, oem ecu etc etc. The eng. was really thorough and provided us with a copy of the inspection afterwards, even detailing the added brakes from a JDM corolla to cope with the extra power.

After that, then all the goodies went on lol.

ben can you get a quote for a certificate for the 2 seater please. been without the back seat for nearly 2 yrs and when cops pull me over i sh*t bricks.

totally forgot to do it when i rego'd this year

Did a bit more tidy up work today

Finally got round to cutting up the timing belt covers, so they went back on with holes cut for the vernier gears.

Managed to stagetically bend the strut brace at precisely the right spots so it now fits back on (and looks like it was never touched!)

Also started the polishing work! Again, dont worry Aza, there's more where that came from

If you need an engineer... I have one..... For about the same price you mentioned.. He will do engine certif, blue & pinks.. So u go straight to the rta and register...

Thanks Craig, I'll keep that in mind. For the moment will stick with the current guy, as he's been advising me all the way, so he knows the car. Plus I made the wise, yet expensive decision to keep the thing rego'ed this whole time, so no need for blue slips

Yeah, that is what I did when building the sonata ... Since I bought the lancer shell as a stolen recovered, and as it was damaged... They took the rego off it ... Grrrr ... Made it a pain for me... + they considered it a repairable write off ...
