I have reported the seller also and have left him a message on his mobile. I am pretending to be a buyer for now.

It'll be a for sale scam, pretty common these days.

If the guy does answer draw him in to get as many details as possible and then report it to the police.

I have just raised a complaint ticket with gumtree......

I wrote:G'Day,
I have found this add in Gumtree, car sales. The seller has found a picture of my own FTO car and is using my photo to sell his FTO car. He has even left my number plate visable.
It is the second photo in his add with my number plate "LUV10T". The number plate of the car he is selling is "BWE27X".
Please have this add removed ASAP and report the seller to the authorities.

I doubt gumtree would report the ad to the authorities, theyll probably just remove it.
Did a quick google for 'red fto', about halfway down the first page there it was, same image. Comes off shannons.com - must of been where he got it...
Be interesting to see what he says

Na he doesnt have any pictures at all almost - none of an fto anyway

I know gumtree won't report to the authorities, I just added that to heighten the complaint.

Time to remove my FTO from Shannons, after informing them why, I only put it up there to enter a comp I didn't win.

I have just spoken to him. He is from Surry Hills.
At first I said I will come and look at it on Friday.
I got his name, address and phone number.

After getting the info I said......
"I have one more question about your add"
"What?"
"Why do you have a photo of my FTO in your add"
"The photos aren't of my FTO as I didn't have any, I just found some photos on Google"
"I know the photo isn't of your FTO it is a photo of my FTO and my number plate"
"Oh, sorry, I will remove it"
"I have reported you to Gumtree and they will probably remove your add"
"I will remove the photo tomorrow"
"Make sure you do, bye"
