Cheers guys, yeah i have sort of ignored my "doing it as cheap as possible" but still way under the 10k mark. Last check i think i was around 6k , I have brought a few more things since then but not a hell of a lot.

If i had a hoist then i would have been able to fabricate my own up and down pipes which has been the most expensive part of the job.

I probably will make a template or sell a kit if any one is interested. But i want to get it up and running sucessfully before I even start thinking along those lines.

Doing last weld on the exhaust today so that will be fully fitted tomorrow what a nightmare doing an exhaust half a meter of the floor :x

Everything else is installed and ready to rock, so after I fit exhaust tonight, it will be time to start the engine make sure she still runs.

I am finding out in the next couple of hrs when i can get in for a tune :twisted:

Started the car yesterday, omg f**k it sounds wicked.

No oil leaks and no fuel leaks so thats a bonus :lol: ...... welll so far anyway

I dont think im getting any boost :cry: When i rev it the BOV isnt pshhhhhhtttt 'ing and boost gauge isnt reading any boost. Maybe i have a leak somewhere???? Im really not sure :cry:

check all the connections-intercooler-upipe-downpipe, you said it was an electronic BOV...is the BOV working?Could this have something to do with it?Run a Multimeter across it see if your getting voltage, check the boost gauge also aggin with the multimeter, see if the voltage is in the specified range--Check all the welds on your piping, check for holes.

No i cant. When i turn the engine off though, i can feel the turbo still sucking in air through the air filter.

Ok BOV and boost gauge have power boost gauge is reading -10 on the vacum side even reving to about 4k

is BOV actually installed correctly? dumb Q i know simon but with mates WRX he had same issue until I installed correctly.
another is was turbo new? are the nut and bolt for fans to tight or too loose?

or maybe you have leak somewhere?

have you tried to actually boost while in gear yet?

Ummm yeah i think i have it installed correctly, i just went off GFB website ill double check it again tonight.

Turbo was brand new. I really havent touched the turb o apart from hooking everything to it so i will check the nuts tonight.

No i havent tried to boost in gear yet as its not tuned....... but that wouldnt matter, would it???????

it is a strange problem but assuming that your piping is done correctly and turbo is fitted, then the only reason i can think of is the compressor being seized after switching the engine on. Could be a number of things (maybe a lack of oil to the turbo) but maybe take it out and check that it is spinning correctly.

Dunno if this helps but its really the only thing i can think of lol :?

sounds normal to me mate..

while there is no load on the engine it is very hard to make boost...

That said, without a tune, you dont wan boost or engine will go...

when she's on the road, and there is load on the engine, it will build boost as more exhast gas passes the turbo...

I would suggest give it a quick stab and see if it builds some, but its at your own risk...

slowly pressing the accelerator wont build boost without load... quick jabs should though...

if the majority of it is done dont touch it and take it to the tuners get him to havea look at it,if it isnt building boost he will be the best person to tell you why, and it will be a quick fix(unless its a part).Since you have turbod a fto engine, i would be running boost without the tune,your engine may go mate.

Sweet thanks guys, I was just a little confused.
yeah i only rev'ed it 2 or 3 times and it was a slow excelleration. so maybe eveything is sweet. Yeah i am definitly gonna just leave it till thursday now.

I didnt realise you were up oin the gold coast, i was there this last week, would of loved to check out that beast your working on there...maybe some other day :twisted: .

What kind of boost will you be running the turbo at? Stock boost?
