Re: BJK's '95 FTO GPX #2!
Hm. Checked the oil and it seems fine.
Car doesn't like a lack of airflow. Overheats if going too slowly or stopped and the secondary fan isn't running. With fan and heater on no probs.

Check the coolant and around the cap, coolant tower and the overflow bottle.

Re: BJK's '95 FTO GPX #2!
If coolant spews from there and sits there it goes that brown, seen it heaps at wreckers, comes off easily. Mine had this too when the cap was fucked, coolant loked fine, nice colour. Cleaned the tower and replaced the cap never had a single issue since.silverGPX wrote:Still way too brown..
Why did you get the new radiator?

Re: BJK's '95 FTO GPX #2!
I believe it's not the cap but corrosion in that spout which doesn't allow a proper seal

Might have a look at the one on the parts car and see if it's in better condition.

Grabbed some Skunk 2 lower arms off aliexpress, and got some stock lug nuts from Dwayne to suit the Evo 7 Enkeis. Timken hub assembly for the Evo 5 brakes are inbound as well.

Re: BJK's '95 FTO GPX #2!
Ordered another rad from Fenix Radiators, seem to have overwhelmingly positive reviews and reasonably priced too.

The box they had in Aus, the actual rad they thought they had has gone walkabout somewhere, so they're shipping one from their NZ warehouse (where they're based) at no extra cost. Good customer service (Y).

I've read those rear control arms are heavier than stock and make noises

will see if that eventuates I suppose! Might have been a product of not greasing the bushes?spetz wrote:I've read those rear control arms are heavier than stock and make noises
Thinking I might grab a cheap scale, want to weigh some other things to compare; like the stock FTO arms vs the Evo 5 ones to see what the actual difference is.

Can you describe the noise because I have a noise in the rear end that occurs when I turn tightly. Sounds like scrubbing but there is no scrub pisses me off.

Nice!
Advantage of going to the EVO hub?
Or is it just to fit evo brakes?

Mostly for the brakes, but they have a better ball joint design as well apparently, easier to swap and longer lasting IIRC. Plus benefit of Evo arms and their rigidity and facelift style rear bush.

Hub assemblies attached and ball joints fitted courtesy of VIPFTO @ #TIMKNOTTMOTORSPORTS

Now have also noticed a lovely grinding vibration that occurs only when turning right. Probably CVs, hoping not diff.
