Just reading this topic again and it's pointed out that my post of oct 22 had a word left out. Should be ,some fuel pumps have a tiny FILTER in the pump inlet, this is shaped like the pointy end of a pencil and about the same size. It dosn't have much surface area so tends to block or restrict flow fairly easily. As I said earlier T in a fuel pressure gauge up near the fuel rail with a long enough hose so the pressure can be read inside the car while driving and when the problem happens. If you dont't conduct suitable tests you'r just guessing.

well ive got the samr problem i was traveling and my aic con was on and i notice the loss of power and by the sounds of things its a common problem. My guess was the fuel filer or fuel pump because the jerking felt like it was about to run out of fuel and wasnt getting enough fuel into the motor too get the power that u want when it revs over 2,500. but mine hasnt done it since and that was on a 44degree day with lots of traveling and the air con on

out of curiosity, what's the fuel consumption like for you guys? how many ks do you get to a tank

I suspect my problem is not the same as you guys. I think I have a bad sensor which is causing my car to overfuel -- I'm getting 380-400k to a tank atm. Just not sure which sensor it is yet, still need to get it checked with the matrix. hope to get there next week

Im getting around about the same k's as you outta a full tank.. around the 380 - 400ks .. and thats driving conservatively..

Yeah, my bet is on the o2 sensor, but I can't be sure yet. I'll let you know how I go if I beat you to getting it checked

I think you do have a different problem. Most like yours is the O2 sensor needs replacing to get better fuel consumption.
I usually fill up around 500km mark coz I get a few knocks under heavy acceleration after the 450km mark most likely due to contaminated fuel at the bottom of the tank.
Sorry guys, I've had this problem since 2002 and still haven't found a solution yet.
All the parts mentioned here that were changed a couple of months ago during my major service were:
O2 sensor
Crank angle sensor
Fuel filter
Water pump
Fuel pump reconditioned
So far it hasn't done it yet this year so if I get through this whole summer without it happening, I would assume it was one of these components that needed replacing.
By the way, mine has never stalled on me though. Sounds like the FTO that is stalling may have a more serious problem. Either way, don't even try and thrash your car on a hot day coz even when it's running fine....it still doesn't go anywhere in a hurry.

changed my car battery today and i decided to take a peep at the coolant.. to my suprise it was dead dry! im pretty sure the last time i checked it was full.. I opened the cap and checked there also and i could see alil left so i guess it mustve just drained out pretty recently, im hoping that, that may have caused what happened the other day.. but im thinking if it was the case of the coolant, the car should overheat right? the temp of my car was fine when it was playing up.. ah well.. car runs ok now so guess ill just take it as it goes... =T

With my car, I have the fuel needle on the top of the E and still I have 6 litres left in my tank!
Your fuel guage could be wrong!

Dude I'm definitely hoping that's not what's caused the problem! This flooding problem is damn nothing compared to your engine overheating from lack of coolant!

a lot of people blame their car when the weathers hot. People got to understand hot weather means less performance for engine!
Basic laws, hot air, is less dance cold is more.
When hot air enters the engine less of an explosion which means less performance.

I run my FTO to the top of the E and it still has 6 litres in the tank!
I guess every fuel gauage is a bit differnet, and the only way of deternining your fuel consumption is to run it dry!
There are so many factors involved. Living is different cities, peak or non peak hours, driving style etc.
I get 450kms on Synergy 8000 but I guess I could push it past 500kms easy.
90% peak hour, full car load, but take Citylink.
If ya complaining about fuel consumption of a 2.0L then you might as well ride a bike.

How is everyone going with this problem? We've had some pretty hot days over the last month or so.
I'm glad to report that my car hasn't done any of the above symptoms over the scorching days and I haven't exactly been driving it conservatively in the really hot weather just to see if it would happen again.
Looks like one of the items replaced must have done the trick.
