lol, yes yes, see mxysxy, another use for the PC
um... no just want to do it right the first time so i dont have to worry about it for 4yrs. the price difference between my setup and the cheaper version isnt that huge.
compiling a DVD while playing an AVI takes a little bit more than 256Mb ram +800Mhz, although i havent figured out why i would be compiling a dvd while driving yet, but just in case lol.
i might put in a 15" lcd if i can find a place for it, +fold out k'board etc = playing FEAR while stuck at lights lol

lol, thats actually where i got my idea from. thanx
the thing is that he's using a mini ITX case, a lot less ram, slower HDD, slower CPU... blah blah blah (i'm even bored of reading my own writing lol)
bottom line is he's got a 60W on board power supply, and that runs all of his stuff.
i need more power, but i dont know just how much power i need, can anyone tell me how to find out how much power i'll need?

Borep you can buy a fucntional car puter for media and audio for ~$250bux + the cost of a laptop harddrive on top of that. These run straight off your 12v car power, don't need an inverter or any bullshit like that.
www.pccasegear.com has a bunch.

you talking about the media player??..yeah i got one of those in my car, they are pretty good but , no gps or tv tuner, with a carputer you can add a usb tuner and a gps unit running of the carputer....

yeah my problem with the off the shelf stuff and laptops is that u can never customise it exactly how you want it, and also the cost of upgrading.
here's a little update on this though.
i've finally managed to find a power supply calculator, to do exactly what i want, i'll need 300W+ of power, that means i have to use an inverter etc...
my problem is that i'll need a bigger alternator...
can someone tell me how much the stock FTO alternator puts out please?

*bump*
actually i've done some research...
here's a list of questions for you guys to answer heheh
1. can anyone tell me how much a stock GR alternator puts out in amps?
2. can i up grade the alternator? how etc...?
3. can a car battery handle 350 watts as well as running the car? (i'm confused on this as fore u get 1000watt amps and they should run off the car battery no probs, and yet i keep getting told that i cant draw 350watts out of my battery without burning it)
so any thoughts on this at all guys?
