I was playing world of warcraft and for 2 hours straight people are talking abt Steve Irwin... ffs just drop it.. nobody really emotionally cares if he's dead, of course you feel sorry for his wife and kids but the only people that are "UPSET" about it are people who are impacted directly by his passing away.
Before anybody starts flaming me, don't misunderstand what I'm trying to say and this is basically it.
Every human being deserves respect when they pass away - but if somebody famous passes away, they don't have the right to get more respect than your next door neighbour.
Why can't it be equal for everybody? Everybody makes a big deal about him dieing, I'm not happy about it but then I don't really feel sad, cos I didn't know him personally so it's only natural for me not to feel any pain, just like 99.9999% of other people. You read people getting killed in the paper and on the news all the time, nobody makes a big deal out of it, even though that could have been the biggest humanitarian or charity worker or whatever, nobody will know or care apart from his immidiate family..
Everything is so commercialised nowadays.. even death revolves around it.

yes he was annoying, yes it annoys me when people from overseas think thats how we all talk and dress, yes he is a risk taker when it comes to the things that he does.
on the other hand... yes he cared a lot about the animals, yes he was an icon, yes he left 2 kids and a wife behind.
in a couple of weeks time, we would've forgotten, in a month or so, the flowers will stop, and that will be bacially it, at worst it will take a few months for the fanatical fans to stop "griefing".
In a few decades' time, His kids still wont have their father, His family will still not have him.
What is the point of dissing/defending him? just let it be, sublime is right with his commercialised comment.
just let it be. If you think you are really sad about him dying, you are probably wrong (if you really cared then it'll last longer than the time the media is going to spend on it). If you think you are happy about him dying, I hope you are wrong (he did you no harm, why would you be happy about someone dying?).
ok.. i'm over being deap and meaningful, so i'm just going to quote Jonowong's joke again, it made me feel better about this whole thread.
apparently it wasnt even a real stingray... it was the guy from neighbours...

I thought all of you dressed like steve, im sure ive seen pictures of Ben in his Kahkis and hat wi corks and Kaz loves the feel of canvas shorts on her skin.
The dude died and that sucks he leaves little Bindi the other one and the annoying yanky/Aus hybrid behind. He would be so gutted he got done by a stingray though, 40 years of wrestling crocs and jamming his thumb up the ass of brown snakes and the dude trips over a stingray.

You UBER kids, I guess in times you guys will understand that people make a "big deal" out of some one died is usually because he or she affected millions of people in life.
Your average neighbor might be the best guy you ever know, but he/she might never able to affect millions of people about the way others think about certain issue in the world.
Steve Irwin might look like a tool on TV, but he, motivated, inspired and influenced lots of people to protect wild and endangered specie animals. http://www.wildlifewarriors.org.au/
Go to your local primary and ask those children apart from Wiggles who do they recognize as a famous person, and 7 out of 10 will say Steve Irwin and ask them to name their neighbor and what they do, 9 out of 10 wouldn't have a clue. Children around the world had a lot more interest of wild life because of him and that can only be good for the future of those endanger wild life.

it was funny cos i was reading the rest of the posts and they were all serious, then out of the blue there's that.
besides give jonowong some credit, he's held himself back from... well being a UBER rude pr*ck, and judging by the amount of times he's posted on here before he made the joke, it looks like he put a lot of thought into it. so lets all just pretend it was funny so he can feel all warm and fuzzy inside. lol
oh god, i have a feeling he's going to flame me again lol

I don't think he meant to abuse Steve Irwin in any way, it was a mildly humorous comment and he meant it in good will, i don't think anybody is so cold hearted to make fun of the dead.Jono wrote:still dont think its funny...
let me know when its funny when your father/husband/wife/kids dies and people start making jokes about how they died.
not funny at all.

LOL!!! its funny cos i've never seen neighbours either, and I thought jono meant that some guy from neighbours poked him in the wrong place with "something" which killed him somehow lol...
