thats 294kw at the wheels, that is a big gain from around 120-130 (stock 6a13 kw @ the wheels)
Did you get other work apart from the turbos done ?

are you referring to the red FTO is Zoom's turbo FTO project? If so, I believe that is EXC's car... ;)

btw, Danny runs 18psi of boost on a relatively massive turbo (GT30 OR 35 i think). it runs on a custom FMIC, larger injectors (i think), tuned ROM and custom inlet manifold... that's about as much as i can remember, LOL...

As for drivetrain losses, it's different for every car. For example, the WRXs can have drivetrain losses ranging from 35-55% between yearly models (ie: MY00 vs MY06), whereas GTRs can have drivetrain loss variations of anywhere from 40-50% at the wheels. For a FWD car, it can also depend on other factors, such as the condition of the running gear (and we won't even go into the dodgy-dyno debate), ambient temps etc etc, you know the deal...

why is there such a big turbo on a small 2.5l motor there must be a sh*t load of lag?

didn't know you could strap turbo's onto FTO's!

Once you've strapped Turbo's on them what do you expect to get the the 400m-sprint?

depends on what sort of turbo you are running, how much boost, what sort of tyres, ambient air temp, etc etc...

for a really basic setup running 6-7psi, i don't see why it can't manage mid-low 14s.

...so you're expecting 13s from an NA FWD?

ok, let's put this into perspective:

a std MY03 WRX (168kw, 4wd turbo, 1395kg) can do flat 14s. a std STI (195kw, 4wd turbo, 1470kg) does around mid 13s.

a std Astra turbo (147kw, FWD turbo, 1282kg) covers the qtr mile in low 15s, and for comparo sake the Mazda RX8 (177kw, RWD turbo, 1350kg) does high 14s - low 15s

i'm not too sure what are the levels of mods you've done to the V6 motor, but if you can crack into mid 14s in NA trim then you are doing very, very well.

Just my 2c. :D

actually there is very little lag and it is the GT 30

but it is all the other bits and work with the turbo that makes the differance, you cant just bolt on a big turbo and expect big horse power

well i will be moddifing till i get 130kw at the wheels which should be some where around 170-180kw at the fly wheel, that is my goal, and u reminded me how much the gr's weight, what is it 1170 or something, i cant remember, so it will have a nice power to weight ratio, proberbly better then all the cars you listed, the final issue will be traction.
so i will be getting some 17s with pirellis or what ever sticks the best. I was even tempted to pick up some street legal nittos if the price is right
I guess we will find out when i go down to the drag lanes @ eastern creak.
Is anyone else intrested in going for a track day ?? we could get a group of ftos :)

There is a 1/4 mile league on Richard Batty's site
http://www.mitsubishi-fto.net/qmile/index.htm

The best official FTO 1/4 mile time in the UK is 14.452 and this is a manual GPX. Better times have been posted but these people are running NOS. It should be fun when some of the in-progress cars are finished. RB's car should be ready soon (2.5l V6 Turbo which is the same as Danny), the RPW turbo unit which this thread has talked about, and two others which I know about but I don't know what they have done (they are keeping it very quiet but dropping the occasional hint). I also believe that Aaron's car is damn quick (he has a lot of the RPW stuff fitted) but I don't think he has done a timmed 1/4 mile in it.

Aaron's site http://www.mitsubishi-fto.info

I have 110 atm, and I will befitting as many unique auto sports mods as possible, and if i cant get to 130, then I will be looking at a 50hp bottle of nos
Mainly cause i cant justify spending 10k (for a turbo kit, or 6a13 2.5l engine) on a car which will be 10 years old soon(in 2005), and is luky if its worth twice 10k !
oh I will also look into Whiteline anti lift kits to see if it will help with traction much

We should have our own 1/4 mile challenge, with different catagories eg gr, gpx, turbo nos and so on.

I'll be Interested how each state goes

Update for those itnerested.

Spoke on the phone with "The Garage" in Scotland and te vehicle will be completed and dyno'd by Friday and we will have the results on Monday with luck.

We have redesigned the system with the turbo hanging off the back of themotor on the firewall side rather than on top of the engine mount as per our first design which is a better setup and one I prefer as the turbo is now hidden etc.

Being made with a GT-28 ball bearing turbo and Greddy E-Manage system.

Two kits are being made and then the 2nd kit sent back to australia for manafacturing a model off.

Will have somemore infomation very soon.
