2 most common piggy back units used on FTO's are the Type A Unichip & the Perfect Power SMT6 & 7. Results can vary depending on what other mods are done, but you expect to see anywhere from 5-10kw gains.

i own a tip gpx
but i have to say manual is much mor ebetter front standing and rolling starts
drivign a manual mivec is jstu complete different feel to driving a tip mivec because with tip, it revs too slow on 3rd but manual goes crazy on 1st 2nd and 3rd!!!

Get the manifold/TB with extractors and you will notice heaps of torque in 3rd gear

hey bennoz, is there only 1 type of Unichip Type A piggyback unit or are there different types for different cars? eg. will a WRX/S13 Type A Unichip be ok for an FTO.

Yes there is only one type of Type A, but do check the serial number as the newer one have better sofware/mapping.

Mate, 0.5 or more i believe is heaps! Especially when the cars are identical. Even 0.5 down the quarter is heaps! Even a tip with your listed mods i still believe a tip will lose down the quarter! First gears seems not bad ratio wise, but when you got a 2.0L engine which produces its power way high in the rev range, the only thing to expect is sluggish take off. The FTO is not different from most cars, its not something "special", its a 2.0L!! If anymore believes an auto FTO takes off well, they are kidding themselves, i dont care what minor mods you got, FTO has nothing down low. Get a manual in high rpm dump the clutch you'll leave an auto for dead. You may gain a tad on each shift but manual compared to the 4 speed has shorter ratios. Manual is more important in a small CC engine as autos dont give you the abilty to launch! Look in most small CC cars, manuals are substanitally quicker.

If you beat a manual driver in an auto, obviously he does not know how to drive or wasnt trying. Period.
