Update - just took my car over to Enfield Smash Repairs (NRMA Approved). It was all really quick actually, coz NRMA insurance called me and gave me the claim number and I just went to the ESR and they just said they'll take care of all the paperwork etc. took me all of 5 mins, plus they are only about 1min away from my house. sweeeet! now i can just duck in anytime to check on how the car's going.

Thats excellent news ahew.... Hope everything goes well... but yeah my advice would be to keep an eye on how the car is progressing, that way it hopefully wont take 10 weeks to get it back on the road like it did mine!

mxysxy wrote:Ahew, sorry to hear your damage as well.
Shocking to see exactly the same damage. Hhahahaa, we even have the same tyres, Eagle F1 GSD3' s
However, I think mine is slightly better then yours, that bumer and side panel didnt go in too much. I dont really think that I have a frame damage.

Well, the good part for me is that I have ordered a body kit already, which includes new front bumper, side skirts, and that thing you attached the back bumper both sides.

Also, my car needs full respray due to scrathed by local boys long time ago.

Hopefully, it comes down to the what you said dj_ules, I will try to use some of the money towards the full respray.

BTW, police has confirmed that it was her fault %100, so isnt this sufficient enough for her insurance company to payme?
What do I do, if she refuse to pay me?

well what i done. i rang nrma, i told them my situatiion my name, reg details where the accident was at, they gave me a quote number. i tell them the amount quoted for the damage from 1 quote of panel beater.(get a few quotes.) BUT. make sure u take it to a NON NRMA,panel beater. dont tell them its for nrma or they wont give u a quote. say its for like a broker or aami or someother one. get a real expensive quote. tell them over the phone how much the quote was. they will try and convince you to take it to one of their nrma shops, to get it fixed .but insist on this expensive place. that u want to take it there. u have had your work done there before. and u only trust them . and their quality. they cant argue where you have to take it. cos they still have to pay. inform them u have an mitsubishi fto, import car. so they know costs will be high . and bam youl organise a time for the surveyor to come inspect your car. he will make sure your quote wasnt over charged. on labour time .etc. and u should still get enough $$ out of the quote. if its ridiculously. low argue with them and say u cant accept this. etc its not gonna fix it and try and get the full amount wich the place quoted you. say to them you cant afford to fork out cash out of your own pocket for somone elses damages. wich you insured. i was quoted 2.300for my damage. and i got 1700. and that was for a hit up the ass. i ended up geting my back , whole drivers side, rust in roof fixed, and front bumper for that amount. and all i got to add is , 900$ and get it sprayed.

but becareful of the panel beaters that say they will give u a proper quote. to leave your car there etc. cos theyr just shifty. a local panel beater here. tried. to give me a quote for the back, he said to me, look give me 50$ il do u a proper quote. take bumper off etc look inside take boot trims out .. and when u come and get your car fixed with us. il refund your 50$

so get your quotes from a NON nrma. panel shop. make sure u give the most expensive to the insurance. then youl be sent a cheque 2 weeks. and then go make friends with somone . offer cash. make sure u ask them if they do home jobs if theyve done it before. so theyr expirienced. and the work wont be really sh*t.

 im out of breath. lol. hope my info was a bit of help.

peace out

dj ules - thanks for the advice. i'll have to remember that for next time as I've already handed the car over to the nrma approved workshop. i just wanted my car to be fixed asap, however your idea sounds excellent.

unlucky, yeah this new hype with nrma is a load of bullshit, they put your quote damage on the net. and act like ebay. and get all the bodgy desperate panel beaters to bid . on to fix your car. and the cheapest. wins it.. but the result of this is u get a bodgy job. nrma standard but bodgy to the max
when my font right guard was reversed into thats what happened.
and now my front right guard is a diferent black to the rest of the car. itslike a really dark green/gold when sun hits it lol.

If NRMA is doing it, then RACV & RACQ would be doing it too, since they are one company now..... :? Man the panel beating industry is dodgy as it is, & now its just going to get worst.... :(

No wonder insurance company like Shannon charge a mini fortune for insuring imports, at least their standard are much higher.

hehehehe.. dj ules - maybe you should respray the whole car to dark/green-gold to match the panel. !GOOD IDEA!

nah - the NRMA rep was pretty nice, they just said choose one and if required they'll bring out an assessor. So all I did was shoot over to the guy that's done a few excellent repairs for our cars already (Enfield Smash Repairs) and because he's NRMA approved he just said he needed the claim number and that was it. NRMA sort it out from their end and all I play now is the waiting game.

Funny thing is that I was thinking about replacing my front bar on Sunday morning as it had a dent... on the front driver's side corner. Well the accident actually popped the dent out.. but the bar is f*cked now anyway.   oh well, someone upstairs is giving me a break in a weird way.

Some good news guys;

Her insurance company called me and asked me to get 2 quotes and fax it to them. Also they gave me a claim number.

I took the car to the place in Preston. Have to admit this place looks professional and a big shop. There were about 8 people working an the cars, and most of the cars were Jap.

I have explained the situation to him, that I need to get a quote to fix the car, to be paid by insurance company.

He seemed very confident and capable of doing the work.

Same place quoted me $3,500 to respray my whole car, when the car was keyed in every panel.

Also explained that I have a spare bumper coming and need the whole car respray professionally (No Masking!) to a lighter silver colour.

He has quoted me $1,500 to respray everything and fixing up all the small dints and bits, on top of whatever he will get from insurance company.

I believe this is an excellent outcome on my side, as the damage will be fixed, car will fully respray and all the extra body kit will be installed (bumper, side skirts, and back).

So, he will talk with the insurance company today and give me a call this afternoon.

Hope that everything will go smoothly.

Damn...i had an accident this weekend too.

It was entirely my fault though.
Anyway i scraped a chunk off my front right side quarter panel which in turn caused some damaged to the bonnet and door.

damn. :(

I knew this question will come up.

I will be a VIC version of indy.

Same colour, Lexus millenium silver, same front bumper (dc blend), same sideskirts (dc) however I dont want it cut for the bits that cover the car, also bumper will have those skirt looking thing on both sides.

Already had my TWS 17" with Eagle F1 GSD3.

Car will be debatched and FTO embossed logo at the back will be removed.

Also thinking to paint the insides of front headlights to same silver and tint the back lights.

So much for my "Stripping the weight of FTO under 1ton" idea,
I keep adding more weight!
