It's just such a different car...

I had been interested in getting one since back at school. Even when I had lancer, but it got written off due to guy running into me through light. I coud've gotten whatever car within $25k range....but it always kept coming back to the FTO! I was then stuck between finding an excellent stock vti-r civic hatch and a proton....cause I thought I couldn't find another FTO (i was gonna buy one from a member here...but fees got in way) I stumbled upon a 95 black manual gpx at on a car dealer site and I knew straight away moment I looked at it, that it was mine. I knew I had to have it, so i got it! for $16k! I was stoked.

I bought my Mirage when I was 17 and made it the ultimate rice machine. Was seriously considering a 6A12 swap at one point so I had researched the FTO and its gear then. Realised that was a stupid idea when I was gonna have to pay $7k-$8k for the swap and ended up only paying an extra 3.5k more for my FTO when I sold my Mirage! I dont feel like I have to do anything to the FTO because she goes well, handles well, looks awesome. Its an FTO! Although I wouldnt mind a set of rims. And intake. Maybe an exhaust. With extractors of course.

Allright, now all the fto people dont get mad at me for saying this.
I always wanted a supra. I got a full time job n then thought that its time to get a supra. but then found out that supras were not in my budget. n then came accross ftos. since it looked a bit like supra and was not as expensive i managed to get it. After i got it, at times i beacme really dissapointed coz it wasnt as fast as supra. But as time went by, i started loving everythin about it (especially the centre console.lol). now i find it better than supra (lookswise only, lets not get ahead of ourselves, lol)

People please don't put any other brand or model cars down, as it works both way & we don't need a mini war from the other forum. Every car in the world have their pros & cons, & we all like to think the car we drive is the best, but unless you own a MC12, or Enzo or Zonder, then you can forget it

BTW there are at least 3 members here that also own a Supra

Saw mine in the car yard at Penrith after being all around Parramatta Road looking at them. Was getting mightly fed up until I saw this one... Twin pipes, Sunroof, excellent conditions. So I went up to the sales guy, told him for starters he was 3 grand overpriced and if he knocked it off I'd take the car off his hands for him... A bit of tooing and frowing went on (the guy really didnt have a clue what type of car he was selling, he kept calling it the pocket rocket  )until he agreed to my terms... And now shes mine, all mine - mwaaaahhhahahhahhha!

I did the online surfing thing myself (carsales,tradingpost,drive.com etc). Was specifically looking for the midnight blue. Found one in VIC, bought a cheap one way plane ticket down there and then drove it back.

I first found out about FTOs after seeing them in Gran Turismo on the PlayStation. Then, a couple of years ago, a mate of mine turned up in an Imperial Red GPX. He took me for a drive in it and I was hooked on the noise.

So I started looking around in 2002, and decided that I wanted a facelift car, and preferably a manual gearbox (although I was told that manuals are very rare). I paid a visit to an FTO specialist to actually have a look at a white GP Version R tiptronic. Then inside the showroom they had an immaculate '97 silver GPX tiptronic which I preferred (and insurance was cheaper on the GPX).

I asked if they had any GPX manuals available and they had a couple of '95/'96 models. They then checked their shipping list and showed me a thumbnail size, low quality inkjet printout photo of a facelift blue GPX manual. I went home to think about it... couldn't sleep, phoned up the next day and put a deposit on it :D A couple of months later (Jan 2003), it arrived from Japan - and the grin has been on my face since.

it was fto love at first sight..
ahahahaha  hence FTOLUV :P

Anyway, I saw the FTO for the first time in 1999 when my best mate showed me a car video about imports in Japan. I instantly fell in love with it and asked my well knowledged friend a million and one questions about the car. Couldnt afford it back then becuz they cost like $40K but as time went by i and i was able to afford a nice car I went to look for a Supra, couldnt find one in decent nick and i happened to stumble upon a FTO owned by a 40 year old in the whoop whoop suburbs. Accident free and immaculate, there was no doubt that i had found my car :D

when i finish my HSC and all my mates got a car by then so i start looking for one myself, i was a total noob with cars knowledge (not driving) so i just look around for suggestion what sorta cars i should get.

FTO came into my mind cause my god sister likes it so i did a bita research into it and damn they're quite expensive at the time i looked but they looks damn hot.

Anyway to cut the story short, i bought my FTO on my gf's birthday, i when to have a look (the only manual available at that time in perfect condition) and bought it the next day! And i'm in love with it more & more everyday, now i just put all my pay into my FTO now :x

My GTR was stolen, so after the pay out i told myself not to buy another sports car, but came across this yellow beauty of mine, so i thought hmm, time to seek attention and looks instead of power. I got it off dirt cheap from an oversea student, the best thing was i didn't do any upgrades, just white globes, that's it.
