Ok, after having the box and stall converter(torque) beefed up I promised some 1/4 mile times. As expected It was raining so they cancelled the drag strip. But I did do 7 lots of 5 laps arround Willowbank. I certainly noticed the difference since the box had been beefed up. The changes were instant and lost very little revs, no lag time at all. It certainly has quickened up the FTO.
Bring on the Turbo RPW.!!!!!!!!!!!

the FTO has very poor cooling through the radiator, an aftermarket cooler is a good idea, as i find my FTO tranny struggle in the heat sometimes.
I had my gearbox replaced at 75,000 kms, it was clunking going from 4th to 3rd, and after a while started to jump a bit when going to a standstill, took ages to engage drive etc.
Now im on 140000 kms it slips a bit when going into 3rd gear if the car hasnt been started for a day. It doesnt seem to do it when im in tiptronic though, i dunno what the hell is wrong with it.
cost me 2.2k to get a rebuild last time, going by other quotes ive got recently the solinoids are really expensive for the FTO, looking at 3k + so ive heard.
The FTO gearbox cost 7k brand new? Your kidding right? You can pick up a brand new 6 speed for less than that.

why would you lose more revs with a stock gearbox?Jeff wrote:Ok, after having the box and stall converter(torque) beefed up I promised some 1/4 mile times. honestly i dont see the point of a stall convertor unless your really into legal drag racing.
It would give you probably .2 a second down the quarter.
just chuck a manual in better option in my opinion.
