how fast are the wrx 2000 just a normal one compared to gpx manual?

i believe a stock standard MY00 WRX will do between low 6s to high 5s for the 0-100kph sprint, or mid 14s for the qtr mile...

Stock FTOs will go anywhere between low 8s to high 6s for the 0-100kph and low 15s for the qtr mile...

don't forget, they have 13kw more, 50NM more torque and 4wd traction off the line! ;)

for a tiptronic

launching (ie. holding brakes and accelerating)

wouldnt that be bad for your transmission also clutch on a manual?

also you say stock fto would go high 6s and low 8s?

how do you get high 6s? can you do it without launching or you have to most of the time?

obviously you would have to launch hard to get those sort of times, maybe somewhere in the 3500-4000rpm range... some people here have reported 6.9s, but how they did it, i wouldn't know...

i've never timed it myself properly, but i reckon my average (dumping the clutch at 3200rpm and flatshifting at 7500rpm through first 2 gears) would give me low 7s for the 0-100 easy...

damn i should really get an RSM ey? ;)

how do u guys race anyway?

do u make sure mivec kicks in every gear?

at how many rpms would u need to change from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd... etc....... im talking bout mivec engines here! lol

everything is ready to go back in just waiting on a clutch to arrive from the USA

then will do the upgrade on the engine internals

but only 1st n 2nd gears
anything after that, the fto driver should be able to smell the smoke of the rex
errr... i don't think so. don't forget the Rex has 4WD traction, therefore they'll launch like a slingshot when the clutch drops, and by the time they reach the first 60-ft, the FTO would've recovered from wheelspin LOL!

does launching with a tip make that much difference? (holding brake and accelerating)

i find the tip is pretty mediocre now coz can't chop nobody... :(
is swapping over to a 5spd man worthwhile? how much would i b looking at?

gotta beat those crummodores...

Launching a tip'd FTO by holding the brakes whilst feathering the throttle will not make a world of difference with a standard stall because chances are you will either bog down (not enough rpm) or wheelspin (too much rpm). i'm sure there is a way of getting it right but since i only drive manual i've never been able to experiment...

swapping to 5-spd would be worthwhile, but it's up to you to decide if the difference it makes is worth the outlay... after all, we're only talking 0.5s difference here (but prob 10x more fun), depending on the car's current state of tune...

...and by the way, yes you can still chop somebody with a tip FTO - just go hunting for rice'd up Evos and Civics LOL... (i know they don't count but hey... :P)

Race flat out or its not worth it....

Redline every gear (manual)...

Rpm will be about 500 below mivec as you declutch...

Lost to a WRX once by half a car length to 110k, another length to 160 and he either gave up or my car started to go really fast...

or it could have been a dream...

My friend at work have a VTEC YO!!!!! Civic (not an integra, but its an interesting story anyway), and he was begging to race me the other day. I was nah nah, whats the point my FTO (GPX man btw) will sh*t on your civic, no point risking my licence bla bla bla. Anyway we were leaving and ended up next to each other going home so we both gave it, i smashed him not even half way through 2nd. Got to about 120, backed off, stopped at the next set of lights and flash flash, a cop car behind me.

Just wanted to have a word to you about your speed back there young man.

Sorry, i just got a bit carried away after work.

Ok then, i'll let you off with a warning for street racing.

Holy F**k i'm lucky.

sif a fto would beat a rex!

rex's are great at launches! they practically cheat with the AWD!!!
but they lack topend speed, they have to change gears quickly!

its bloody hard to launch with a tip/auto!
its not like manual, where u can rev maybe 5000rpm, den dump the clutch to launch.....

for tip, u COULD launch by accelerate and brake at same time!
to keep the car still, the revs will not be high... if u accelerate harder, the brake will slowly lose grip and the car will start moving forward......
imaginening u were going straight, u accelerate, then u brake slowly..... what happens? the engines rev starts to drop, and the car slows down!
so if u launch with feet on brake, and accelerate, the brake willl not be giving u much engine revs......
where as manual, u can rev as hard as u like!

i think the best way is maybe just rev in Neutral, then quickly sh*t to 1?
the engine might bog...... i havnt tried it yet! its just another little experiment for tonights drift heheeh

nope, that's not gonna work either... tried it in my mate's VRX Lancer one (also with tip) and the engine was screaming but the car barely moved a foot LOL...

that is why people put higher stalls on their car (say 3200rpm for example) so that when they apply the brakes, the car won't move until the rev needle moves past 3200rpm

hmmm... after thinking about it, i dont think it would be a wise idea lol
