ehheeheh i know how you feel mate, my list would be close to yours if not more, CBF count them anymore. But yeah its a bottomless pit I say, & all my car but one was pre 90. There are 3-4 of them are brand new but I ususally buy a car that is either 2-3yrs old as they already depreciated to the value where they will hold for another 5-8 yrs.Bennoz wrote:So many folks out there with the FTO as their first car!
Not sure what to think about that... its sorta like a right of passage in Australia, to own and kill at least one sh_t box in your life...
This is what I had to go through before I got into the style of an FTO...
1978 V8 Simga - written off
1972 Mini Clubman - worked it then sold it
1969 Mini Cooper S - worked the bejesus out it & kept it to this day (my hobby car)
1982 Toyota T18 - worked it, blew it up, then written off
1984 Ford laser - caught driving it unregistered - its still sitting in cop shop yard some 5 years later..
1985 VK Calais - sold it cause the old 5ltr drank 3 litres of juice per meter!
1986 VL Turbo - worked it, sold it
1988 190E Benz - had a g/box like a sydney train - sold it.
1990 CB Lancer - worked it, sold it
1997 Ralliart Spec GR FTO
Faark... when I look up at that list... whatta money pit!
So little money, but so many car i want to "try" hehehehe

Not at all mate. Got lucky during the import process, spotted the car actually in Hong Kong. After it was manufactured, it was sent to Ralliart HK & they did a job on it. It was their demo car whilst they considered manufacturing hi spec kits for them. As you can imagine the process fell through & here we are making up are own mods..paladin wrote:ralliart spec? you a uk bober? or what?
Apparently they spent a small fortune on it - not to mention the time.
Its got some pretty big cams in it & a tuned ECU to suit. There are a couple of other bits they put on as well, suspension mods, GPX brakes with vented discs etc..
Goes like a shower of sh_t - only wish they'd done it to a Mivec!
I hear ya!FTO338 wrote:So little money, but so many car i want to "try" hehehehe

aaaaahhhhh memories.... My first car was a 1976 Leyland Mini LS 1275cc. It absolutely flew, with its little 13' mags and little flaired guards. It was brown matallic with a cream vinyl roof... My oldest son has a photo of it on his corkboard in his room.... he aspires to owning one one day. I bought it for $2500 and sold it 3 years later for $2500. In good condition they are now fetching somewhere around $8000. Mods??? Just the one, my then boyfriend - now husband- and his father put a second petrol tank into it, saved having to fill the thing up every second day... I loved that car..... Really funny thing was even though it was a small car I had to use a cushion to reach the peddles

Mini's are awesome. When I was younger my parents had a 1975 Clubman 1000 which my brother and I drove around - that was good fun. But after a year, they got something better - they traded it in for a 1969 Mini Cooper S. It was a replica, but it had all original Cooper gear - a geniune Cooper S twin carb engine which had been bored out, a straight through exhaust which made it sound awesome, and virtually all other Cooper stuff. The only thing it didn't have was the second fuel tank, although it had the nozzle for it. It was such awesome fun - I would still rate it as the most fun car I have ever driven. And man did it go fast - could surprise a lot of other cars.
Unfortunately while I was away at university, some scumbags stole it, drove it through the forests near home until it ran out of fuel, then set it on fire

heheheh well i use to be on the road a lot, so i eat my lunch & dinner in my car, i just use my left hand for the gear, indicator & steering, while I use my right hand for the food & drink heehe
& since its a german car, the indicator is on the left side, it made it much easier for one hand operation.

VW Mk2 Golf, 1.6 turbo.
She lasted me years, till one fatefull day when she decided to tackle a metal pedestrain barrier head on. Wasn't happy - for no reason what so ever she span in the wet, while doing about 50kph in heavy rush-hour traffic. All the time's i'd been stupid with her and she got me out of trouble, and she does this....
Copper had to give me every drug/alcohol test before he'd let me go. Still didn't believe me bout what happened, even though had witnesess.

ah my old el falcon, 4ltr straight six, it lasted a month, i got out of all kinds ofcrazy stuff in her, and then one day with a little bit of sleet taking a long right hander, she got tail happy, having fek all experience and used up all my luck i decided to try to power thru it, was only going about 40-50, but she went into a counter spin and lost all traction, careered sidways facing the wrong way across three lanes and into a tree
so after getting insurance for that i bought a 96 camry, a bit of balls and handled surprisingly well did me justice for about a year, untill recently i bought my baby, 94 GPX manual

Yeah but what about when the teeny weeny bastards let go?? The same thing happened to me in the mini. Wet road, Great Western Wwy, almost sideswiped by another car, swerved, again facing the wrong way on three lanes of traffic. Lucky the lights had changed red at the previous intersection.....I suppose being poor and not having the money to pay for new tyres (which were now down to the crossply) would have anything to do with itBennoz wrote:paddymac wrote:but she went into a counter spin and lost all traction, careered sidways facing the wrong way across three lanes and into a tree
Nasty!... but what can you do - when the big old bastards let go, they don't wanna come back!

Yep, thats the one! She's just waiting on a few diff parts to come in from the UK & I'll have her back on the road - I should bring her out with an FTO cruise!
See if any of the kids can catch me in it! Runs a 1400cc nitroused firebreather engine. 12.5:1 compression, forged internals, 45mm weber carb, full roll cage & fibreglass seat etc etc etc... Its had *cough* $65k poured into it over the years *cough* (hope the misses isnt watching..) Basically an Appendix J race car with carpet. 136hp at the flywheel (+50hp gas injection) - 600kg car.
