MEMBERS RIDE SECTION

Post by dimi »

i would LOVE a section like on boost cruising, its a part of the website where members post their car, they can show 4-5 pictures of their ride and comments and then people can comment on their ride. www.boostcruising.com , check it out

I think this would be good for many reasons, but thats just my 2 cents.

C ya

I guarentee this section would be VERY VERY POPULAR

dimi, I agree that this would be popular, however, to minimise the time required, perhaps a section could be created where you post 1 picture of your car, and then have a link to the rest of the section hosted on (say) cardomain.com. It would save someone having to create the page and save on hosting sapce required.

Peace, unity, forgiveness and commitment to a common goal would also be nice.

I would like to thank everyone that is taking the time to post to this thread. There are some excellent suggestions, and I want to see even more.... lots more :D

I will take all these suggestions, summarise them, and present them at the May committee meeting.

I also would like everyone to know that once the committee has met I will endevour to let you know what decisions were reached, and what will be discussed further at the following meeting :)

Cheers everyone ... and a big congratulations to all.

yeah mrx that sounds just as good.

Their is a pretty piss poor number of fto's on the cardomain site, compared to other cars, remebering that cardomain is huge world wide and their are only 40 fto's that can be viewed.

i find that the more cars you can see, that have been modified, the better idea's an owner will have for projects they wish to venture on.

For this reason i think this section would be great.

I reckon perhaps change some of the forums around..

Like the TWG and Motorsport, not many posts in there..
And shouldn't Group Buys come under the Trading Post?

Just my 2c :D

Ok this thread seems to be dropping off. Let me throw some ideas into the ring...

- Would you like to see club memberships? Obviously the site would remain free, and membership would be optional, but memberships would let us start organising...

- Company discounts for club members for things like tyres etc?
- Newsletters?
- Communicate direction of the club?
- Members ride and contact directory? Would include a pic of your car and contact details if you choose to give them.

Are these things important to anyone?

Also ... what sort of gatherings do you like to attend? and are people interested in get togethers?
- Advanced Driver training days
- Trivia night
- Pool night (of the cue variety ... although if someone has a pool ;))
- Cruises
- Show n Shine
- 10 pin bowling
- Lawn bowls n Beer

ok all ... open slather ... throw ideas in.

Because the cars are between 8-10 years old now and there seems to be some standard problems that occur with them, how about an FTO HELP day. Some of our more mechanically minded members could maybe volunteer their time and brain for the benefit of the less mechanically minded. We could meet at a central location, ie park, and questions can be asked and answered. This could also be used to help people with mods. For example I have ordered the "leather" seat covers. Now because some members have already gone throught the teadious process of fitting theirs, they could maybe help out the ones who are about to tackle the process. I'm sure they have a few hints to make it a little easier. And there is also the very serious problem of that little yellow light on the dash that flickers on and off, maybe this could be discussed as a matter of urgency  (sorry to all who have been caught with that question, but I had to do it)

Paid memberships, discounts, club newsletter would all be cool, and should be high on the agenda. Possibly some club hats/shirts also.

A "national" get together should be organised, somewhere other than Malacoota as I think it should be somewhere new each year. I suggested somewhere Midway-ish between Adelaide & Sydney, say Bendigo-ish.

Somewhere with a go-kart track would be good - State of Origin Karting! Oh hang on - that means I would be representing NSW. OK, state of residence Karting then!

As to whether the club should become CAMS affiliated - I say it should be it depends on what others think, cost etc.

Oh, and Supplanter - I am sure Steve would take your money off you whenever you want to give him some!

How about a Christmas in July? Thoughts?

Drunken Go Kart racing in Kalgoorlie... I like.

Although I could do it in my next suburb in Sydney, everyone
likes a road trip :D

On a serious note, I've heard the topic come up before, but whats involved in being CAMS associated? cost, paperwork etc..
I think it would be a good idea. There's a lot of benefits from belonging to affiliated clubs - like access to more than just 'track days' but actual race events.. For those like myself who dont mind swapping paint with other madmen.
