that depends who is selling it and how much the buyer is willing to pay

depends on the Ks and the condition

from a wrecker between 2000 and 2500

privately from 1500 to 2500

you might find them cheaper or more expensive

you could buy a nissian RB20turbo motor a couple of years ago quite cheap, around a grand, they are starting to become quite popular and the price has gone up and i have heard of them going for 2500 now

It all boils down to supply and demand

Ok, even after reading all of these posts, nobody has mentioned the approximate cost of rebuilding an engine. I know its a hard value to calculate, but approximately how much should I put aside for a rebuild if the engine is already out of the car and no extra modifications are done

Exactly it is a hard value to calculate. It depends what condition the motor is in. What parts are needed.

It could range from 5 grand to 15 grand and more, I know of people who have spent 50 grand on engine builds. You could easily spend 4 grand just on head porting

depends what sort of job you want done.

Pay peanuts and you will get monkeys.

You also need to get some one to rebuild the engine who knows what they are doing.

there are very few people out there who have experiance rebuilding the 6A series of motors, some shops will look it and say sorry not interested.

Unless you are a mechanic and are doing the rebuild yourself, i would suggest putting in a second hand motor.

A second hand motor can easily be tested. You can do wet and dry compression tests and a cylinder leakage test, inspect under the rocker cover for signs of wear, sludge build up, water in the oil, condition of the oil, looking at the condition of the outside of the motor will usually give you a good idea if it has been looked after or neglected. A experianced mechanic will know what to look for.

As Danny said,
I have a 6A12 for sale.
Non mivec from a GR.
Very good condition, I bought the car at 75k, and had regular servicing.
Now 95k, but had major service done at 90k, belts, tensioner, etc.
For sale for $2000, buyer to pay shipping.
It just cost me $250 to have a 6A13 shipped from Perth to Bris.
Thanks again Danny.
