I went to http://www.roofracksgalore.com.au/ today and they have a roof rack by Thule that will fit the FTO. It will effectively give a rack area almost the full size of the roof. The cost is $380 and $50 for fitting (apparently the first time fitting is very fiddly, after that, fitting and removal is easy). The rack is rated to carry about 50kg.
A kayak attachment ranges between $100 - $200. A bike attachment is about the same price range.
The bloke I spoke to said it would carry a couple of kayaks no problem at all.
