i'm sooo with you there Ethan... the number of muzzas (both with and without P-plates) i see every weekend around Taylors Lakes & Keilor doing stupid sh*t on the road with their full-sick commonwhore is just sooo not funny.... in fact go to the Shell outlet along Melton hwy on a Friday night and you'll find at least half a dozen fcukwits ripping burnouts out of the driveway from the gas station or incessantly blowing-off their full sick wank-valves in Skylines / VLs as they approach the pump... yerrr nice one morons!

hahahah you forgot the massive bling bling Mil.
But on the serious note, this topic had been going for ages, in so many different shapes & forms. All i can say is put a small recorder in your glove box, so next time when they pull you over, just press the magic button, & u have a winner in court.

well I'm not 100% sure about this myself but the last time I had this discussion with some colleagues at work (who have a legal history) not all taped audio or video recordings are submissible in court - it depends on the case as well and you need to prove that the contents of the recording was genuine, not fabricated. This is due to the technology available these days to manufacture / tamper with evidence so the recording must be approved... (ie: surveillance cameras, undercover agents etc)
I know I been watching too much of The Practice / Law & Order but like Kev once said - the laws in this country is well & truly fooked coz it serves the criminal better most of the time...

Well you are correct, but i'm sure on these type "so call" minor civil case, you should able to use it. Hey worst come to worst, send a letter to today tonight, & tell them you got a recorded conversation about police "abuse of power" they always have some sh*t story on, nothing is more powerfull then media. hehehh

I totally agree. people like us (under 25 with a import ), are always wrong. We have absolutely no voice. Who saw that story were some dude who was like, 20, fell asleep in his car drunk, and got done DUI. Even when they told his story on today tonight, even i (who sympathised with him) thought "he was probably doing something wrong". I think anti-hooning laws are so unjust. Applying stricter restrictions to a certain demographic, really sounds discrimination. No voice = no rights. I mean, when do u start drawing the line?
Its quite easy for open licence holders to say "yeah, enforce the new laws, its for the best". I work the occassional night shift, so what.. i need to get permission to drive at night now? at certain times? And id love to know how many of these people on open licences drove a high powered car when they were 17-21. Of course some 50yr old politician will back the laws. Doesnt affect him negatively does it? Doesnt lose votes becuase barely any under 21's vote loyally anyway.. But he's gotta sleep better at night cos he can safely drive his car home without the fear of me on the way to work.

i think its time on join in...
as some of you know im a 17yr old asian so when i get pulled over cops they give me the hardest time, i was on my way to work when a cop pulls me over for a random breath test at 4pm! i can say i was going at most 30 in a 50 zone because of the traffic in the afternoon, and then i was pulled over for a "random breath test", i had 0 BAC, so he check my license and rego and then he did a background check on me or something and since i had a misadventerous youth, my name came up with charges of robbery and assault, i was given the hardest time ever even though i was charged when i was 13-14, 4years ago and they dont care that your a changed person, they just judge u on what u did when u were 13! so i was given the hardest fuckin time ever... they defected me for everything they could,
- battery was not secure
- airfilter was not in a box
- exhaust not standard
- exhaust too loud (he didnt even pull out the black box thing)
- spare tyre was not bolted in
- bodykit too low (after he let the air out of my tyres)
- spoiler too big
fined for rear p plate not displayed properly (i used the rear wiper to hold it in place)
he says so your 17 so you just finished your hsc huh?
so what did you get?
and im like 88 and hes like that is the biggest load of sh*t ive heard people with a record like that dont get that high you probably cheated or something huh?
i mean wtf is that sh*t? y cant i get 88? hes just angry that i probably beat him
then he makes me sit on the grass with my hands on my head and he says to me
so you like to rob people huh? ever robbed anyone in burwood?
i answer no
and hes like dont f**king bullshit me, im going to search your car and if i find any weapons in the car im going to lay into you and then im going to spray into you and lay into you again, so tell me now do you have any weapons in the car?
no
your bullshitin' me again (he checks the car finds nothing but woollen gloves)
what are these for?
i work at a grocery store, its for handling the fruits and vegetables
he said someting along the lines of dont bullshit me, you think i would actually believe u would use gloves for that, with your history
gives me some more sh*t while his partner finishes off writing my fines like if i ever see you driving around burwood again im going to pull you over all time, blah blah this is v6 yeah, well you wont be able to drive it anymore when the new law comes in and gives me a smug "ha!". hands me the tickets and says i dont want to see you ever again
i get back into my car with a flat tire and notice that $60 is missing from my ashtray... ooo how i hate the cops... dont they have anything better to do? they are meant to serve and protect... not annoy innocent people and waste time!

It's easy to see why people hate police with that story.
I guess it's no different to the odd P plater that hoons around, gives them all a bad name. The odd police officer with an IQ lower than his shoe size gives the rest of them a bad name.
Just some food for thought, AFAIK, police officers have a voice recorder on them at all times. When I was pulled up years ago (in NSW) the officer alerted me to the fact he was recording the conversation. In the end, it served me well because he lied in his report and I had my fine over-turned.

jonowong,
That’s an incredible story.
You guys are still lucky in Aussie though, back in Turkey they all corrupt.
One time they caught me doing very naughty things with my gf in the back of the car (which is illegal if you under 18), and they gave me a real hard time. I was just saying "Yes sir, yes sir" to every word comes out of that both male cops. Also they were playing the good cop-bad cop game big time on me.
After a stressful1 hour, good cop told me "If you can fill up the fuel tank we might let you go."
I gave them enough $$$s to cover the fuel and a late night meal, and they said "Thank you and you might finish the work you started, no one else will bother you guys tonight."

Jonowong that’s sad to hear man, I had a chance to work with street kids before, as I use to be one, the problem I found with Asian youth & law enforcements are that cops will automatically treat you like a "Crim" if you wear "Sports gear". And most of time like the others had mention, it’s the attitude, & its work both ways, if cops automatically assume who ever they pulling over are "crim" then the person who got pull over will assume the cops are going to be an asshole & here to give he/she a hard time.
Remember one thing when anyone talk to the cop, always address them with their name e.g.; "Officer Brown, black, white" or whatever, because if you do, they know you switch on, & will usually back off a bit.
Anyway jonowong if you want to make a complaint about these cops or the situation, there's a link below for N.S.W. Do keep in mind for other state members, each state will have their own ombudsman to handle "Abuse of Power" by police.

one friendly suggestion - stay away from the FUBU / Fila / Adidas apparel with your baseball cap backwards.... and sit the f*ck up straight - don't sit so far back & low that you can barely see above your dash - ppl who do these seem to get pulled over quite a bit (just an observation i have in my 9 years of driving)

This conversation is starting to remind me of Chris Rock's, "How to not get your ass kicked by the police!" video
(Look it up on the net if you haven't seen it)

I would say that an FTO is definately an eye-catcher to the cops.. for one thing, its an eye catcher for normal people let alone the cops..
I have never had anyone pull me over for an alcohol breath test in 6 years of driving. As soon as I got this car i've been stopped every single time.
Another thing is that Ive never had so many old and grey people want to race me in my life.. they are there beside me at the lights in their old Datsuns ready to let fly.. As far as P-platers go.. I have too many old people wanting to race me, so imagine the number of p-platers!
Everyday I drive to work and i have a bad experience with a P-plater. I see getting a license as an invitation to an exclusive club, u gotta play by the rules. If you dont, then u lose your membership.. same thing goes. So i can definately see where the cops are coming from in terms of hooliganism.. but then again, i can also see why they would target our cars.. the car is too good looking for the cops to not want to get a better perve.

Two things have come to mind while reading some of these posts. Firstly, as far as the cops treatment of some people, carry a video camera in the car with you and if you get pulled over, just pull it out of the glove box and ask the cop very politely if he minds if you record the incident. You have every right to do this as they are now starting to carry video in their cars and will record you and what you say and do... Secondly in regards to the p platers attitude - At 18 you can legally drink, vote and get sent to war so according to the law you are an adult - so why the hell do SOME young drivers persist with the juvenile attitude to road rules. They act as if the rules are not applicable to them. Also when you become an adult you take responsibility for your actions. I'm sick of seeing kids getting killed while driving stolen cars at high speeds but everyone looks to blame the cops, the government, the school system, everyone but the individual who chose to steal the car and drive at high speeds!!! For Christ's Sake peoples responsibility has to lie with the individual and his decision and the consequences of that decision.!!!!
Rant over
