Ethans rite, even if it was 'lighter' and 'higher' they are still way more impractical than the basic open sideways door.
Still i wanna get them on my new ride!

Practicality!?!
Screw practicality!!! MWAHAHAHA! I'm tired of seeing the same bloody body kits on FTO's...Veilside for instance! (No offense to any Veilside fans or customers! Just not to my liking!) I'm in the final stages of having a kit customised for my FTO & I simply want the scissor hinges for visual impact! As I have mentioned already, I am more concerned with the cars cosmetics & audio system than performance, I want something visually stunning...And as Slither mentioned, Scissor Hinges never fail to impress!

If you want practical, get yourself a station wagon, thats very practical hehehehhe
But yeah everyone is different, as long as the owner is happy who cares what the other thinks.

Well...It's done! And I'd like to thank everyone here for their input...I've ordered my scissor hinges, not from Cyber mind you, I managed to locate a UK company which has actually made a FTO specific kit...Not only does it bolt straight on but the doors open to a 20 degree horiozonal angle before lifting up to a 70 degree angle! Plenty of room for entry & exit!
I'll let everyone know how the kit fits & I'll post pics once it's done!
Here's a pic of an FTO in the UK with the kit installed...

Looks great, so how much did this kit cost you?

The kit cost me $2200.00 inc. delivery from the UK (Thanks to some negotiating on my part!) A little dearer than the kits available here in OZ but I think the fact that the kit is designed specifically for the FTO & that it opens up to provide plenty of room for the occupants to enter & exit the vehicle makes up for the added cost.

I'm looking to get this kit from the same place.
What happen with the kit you ordered?
Did you have any problems shipping or installing or anything?
Does it need to be fitted proffesionally?
I would luv some pics or any info that is available.
Thanks

It all comes down to what you want out of em. For you who drives the car ya get used to them and just become normal. For others they struggle. Chicks do find it a little hard to open them, and it does make it harder to get in and out of the back seat. Still i don't think that its that bad.
