the group buy for the CF radiator heatshield is still on but nobody seems genuinely interested in it... those who said they wanted one have never paid up!
anyway you only have days before the closing date (check the group buy thread) to pay up for yours...
i don't intend to waste my time any further if ppl don't commit so until the money has been paid, we will not be manufacturing them.
judging by the disappointing responses to the CFRP heatsield so far, we have reservations about the production of the CAI kit as well... We don't feel confident that there has been enough commitment shown to warrant full production of the CAI kit therefore, these parts will only be exclusively made to order on demand basis.

first its hard for people to pull out a couple hundred here and there when ever there is a group bu, coz quite simply $1000 and $500 are the same when you have neither. im not sure but i think you didt really give a longer time for those who may want it time to get their money in order.
personally i want and NEEEEEEED! the air box, secondly i am more then interested in the CF bonnet with FINALLY! a different design. MAY very well be in for the boot also. but fact is, i am in the shitter at the moment, re spraying my intirior, buying new shocks, 4 friggen ingagments (someone must have offered all my mates a group buy
) im a little strapped for cash.
still.... im not really worried about losing the discount, but i am worried if you dicide to not go ahead with the products... coz that means i cant get them at a later date. so i hope you guys done cancel the whole thing!

i posted the group buy about a month ago... since then i've had a number of PMs from a several members putting their hands up for the CFRP radiator heatshield but when i replied back to them with payment arrangements, i heard nothing back...
i know there are a number of ppl who are waiting for the CAI kit but we just don't feel confident that it is the right time to start mass-manufacturing these items when nobody seems serious about putting down any sort of financial commitment into the project... As such, for those who are truly serious about the CAI kit, we can make them on-demand. afterall the group buy price difference is only very marginal due to their lower operating costs... (it just makes things easier for them to manufacture these things in batches)
just bear in mind that due to the materials used it won't be as cheap as the other CAI kits available out there for the FTO, (but it is still far cheaper than other CAI offerings in CFRP for other popular cars)

Mikey i can totally understand the frustrations.
If people are strapped for cash, its not really mikeys fault or problem? but I know (and im an offender) that if people do put their hands up for interest they should at least let the 'group buy' organiser know if they are pulling out. Unfortunately selling things on the internet gets a lot of "foxing" interest.
I think one problem might be, that a lot of people would be interested in either the heat shield and the airbox but dont know which one would be better for them? .... I know that I woud be disapointed in getting the heat shield if i one month later an enclosed box was designed for only $100-$200 more etc.... One idea might be to get interest from people what they would prefer
(a) heat shield
(b) air box that can support a pod filter and pipe for CAI
(c) other..
approximate what the pricing range is going to be, and then if 8 people say they want the air box, and 2 want a heat shield, you know which is more popular. Then let everyone know that they need to put a $50 deposit down, and production will begin... on the more popular item.
I think if there are too many options, its hard for people to commit. I also think that people are worried that if the buy something and then a better option comes up they will have missed out.. does that make sense?

i hear ya Dave, but when all is said & done - no matter how many votes have been given for each option, it all comes down to whether those ppl are committed to it enough to put down a payment for it. What you have just suggested is no different to what's happening now...
Let's just assume for a moment that the radiator heatshield was the most voted item and payments are being taken now. There are a number of ppl who have expressed interest by putting their hands up for one (via PMs etc), and they have been given enough notice about the due payments etc when the group buy thread was posted. This should have also given them some time to decide if they want one or not... Although there are some genuine buyers who have paid up in the last few days, there are also those who said they want one but never got back to me when prompted with payment arrangements.
So if ppl cannot pay up for an item for which they have expressed their interest (having known all the necessary details required), then there is no point wasting your time & effort to get things done right?
In my experience I've had to deal with far too many timewasters with private sales here in the past (and I suspect some of those know who they are
) and to be honest I'm well and truly sick of it, which is why i insist on full commitment from serious buyers only. In laymens terms - NO MONEY NO TALK.
