Its should be pronounced Me-vec really.
Since when has an I sounded like a Y?
So are we going to start saying "Mytsubishi" ?!?

Mitsubishi Australia cant even sell a car let alone pronounce Mivec properly!

gee you gotta love the English Language... but as this is an abbreviation - English language rules dont apply...
My vote however - goes with My-vec
(same as they pronounce it in the latest Mitsi TV Ads)
and FTOluv? what do you mean Mitsi can;t sell cars? I bought my Lancer MR (new) from a dealer?
drove it for a couple of years then traded it on the FTO - for that mYvec sound

Hmmm there is something in Japanese that sounds like my in english.
I only know it because of kendo, but it's romanisation is mai.
I think it means forward (Well the direction in front of you )
So it could be plausible to be My-vec.
Don't want to add fuel to the fire but just wanted to say that as we probably were thinking that that sound doesn't exist in Japanese (And is it plausible to have that twice in a sentence???)

ME-vec for sure lol... think of how a japanese man with the fobby accent would pronounce it.. even if the man spoke english he'd still have that asian accent lol

Honda - VTEC YO!!!!!, pronounced as we all know as VeeTeck

Mitsu - Mivec.....
lets compare the 2 words, i notice a distinct lack of VOWEL between the V and T in the honda example, but a distinct precence of one in Mitsubishi's incarnation...
one would then insinuate it would be pronounced different...
if we simply sound it out it seems more logical to be
M(ie M sound....)
I(as in the I sound)
then
VEC(as in ....well as in VEC)
so its MyVec if you want the 'monkey phonics' version
and we all know how monkey phonics right

What are you talking about? In any case, considering what it is an acronym for, it could be pronounced either way. Although on the Mitsubishi advertisement they pronounce it "my-vec".

well im certainly with the MIV-EC version... it sounds better to me
