In other words a socket wrench. What the f**k does it have to do with the flywheel? It's just another bolt to undo. Furthermore, he aint removing any flywheels, he'll be putting one on!

Have someone hold the crank bolt with a socket wrench/breaker bar as you tighten them up.

This^

...and use the tension wrench so the handle is always aimed accross the center as in the last pic.
This way you are using less force/leverage on turning over the engine.
+ I put a little bit of oil under the bolt head and a little bit of loctite on the thread.

Update time fgts.

I've got the battery, tray, intake, starter motor, downpipes and sump removed.

I'll be resealing the sump but that's separate from the conversion.

First question;

The car's oil leak was pretty serious, the starter was clogged with oil internally so i've stripped it down, cleaned and degreased it and I took a wire brush to the copper contacts. The brushes themselves were all intact and had plenty of meat left. What's the best way to test it while it's out the car?

Next question;

The sump was a majority of the oil leaking but it's also leaking from the heads. The rocker cover gaskets have been changed but here's a pic of where it is. Am I right in assuming that it's the half moon seals on the rear heads?

Was taken from behind the rear manifold.

First one.

Never seen a rear main go on an FTO yet, but would be wise to swap out none-the-less while the box is off. It would probably be the gearbox input shaft seal - which I've replaced in your manual box ;)

I bought a spare 6a12 mivec with box, the inside of the bellhousing was covered in oil. They will go.
