Supercheap auto...

Called store 1: Do you sell a CV Joint Banding tool?
Them: Yes, but we sell it with our CV and Boots.
Me: I bought boots off you, there was no tool.
Them: Oh then what is this tool for?
Me: To tighten the CV boot clamps properly.
Them: Well it is actually recommended to put high quality cable tie on the cv boots, they hold them better
Me: Thanks mate, will call some other shop.

Called store 2: Do you sell a CV Joint Banding tool?
Them: Yes we do.
Me: Awesome. What's the price?
Them: Hold on let me go grab it off the shelf.
Me: Cheers mate.
Them: Ah yes, Ball joint separator tool. That's I think not on special..
Me: Thanks mate. Not what am after. I am looking for a CV Joint banding tool...to properly secure cv boot clamps.
Them: Nope, this is all we have.
Me: Cheers.

Repco:Do you sell a CV Joint Banding tool?
Them: A what?

Bursons:Do you sell a CV Joint Banding tool?
Them: What car?
Me: erm....after a CV joint banding tool....
Them: Will have to be a special order.

Want to read the summary of the remaining 7 phone calls I made? :|

There's one on ebay, local stock. That's my last option.

You can do those metal stips up with a pair of needle nose plyers & a hammer, you don't need a special bloody tool.

Furthermore, who uses the metal straps anyway? Cable tie will also do the job!

Cable ties for CV boots? :|
But Toby did that and he got abused with every known explicit here sometime back? :|

I tried pulling the metal strips with pliers and holding the pin with a flat head... but since I don't have any vice grips, I was balancing the axle with my leg... The boot popped out when I pulled on it with bit of force after I used that method. So must not be tight enough. I also made the inside of the rubber area which is getting the strips on top of them didn't have any grease to make sure they don't slide out.

Btw, on one of the pics, your outer cv boot's small end is on top of the groove on the axle and clamped down...on the other one its little bit above the groove (you can see the groove on the axle) and clamped down.
Workshop manual says you should be able to see that first groove.

Oh and heating up the ABS ring with a blow torch makes installing it easy :) No snapped rings that way!
