Get the tie rod ends replaced before the alignment. If there is play in the joint then it will play a part in what you describe. But the Fto has a tendency of tramlining in general.

When replacing tie rod ends, is it advisable to change both the inner and outer?

No. Just do the outers. Inners usually get done with a rack reco.

Thanks. I think I need a rack reco though, with the amount of leak around it:

Guess it would be easier if I get the mechanic the inner rack part? Are they universal across FTO's?

Just get a whole new rack, job done, no possibility of it leaking for your ownership of car and it'll be tight as fuk

That looks more like CV grease from a split CV boot rather than PS fluid.

You might be right...the inner cv just infront of it was fucked....it had zero grease inside it when the rubber boot split. I'll change the steering boot and keep an eye out. Thanks again. :)

The tie rods/track rod ends come off the row I anyway. They rarely fail, unless you bend them!

Easy to change still though.

Is it leaking from the boot or lines?
