Wow!
We just tried wrapping a mirror, how do you do it without over-stretching it, and without getting lots of creases, we gave up!
Didn't help that it was carbon fibre look wrap, so we had to try align the pattern

Practice grasshopper..... Carbon fibre is harder to lay as it doesnt stretch as much. Heat gun is essential for the mirror. Is also one of the harder bits to do. I dismantled the mirrors completely to do mine. I managed todo it in 1 piece, although, you may need to use 2 pieces and join for CF. Basically start on one of the flatter areas (for the mirror, on the top). Heat, stretch and and lay it until it starts to crease. Lift, heat and go again. I had to do a couple of mirrors to get it right. The flatter areas (like bonnet) are easy now. Sometimes it is better to put joins in if you cant stretch. If you have to do this, they look more hidden on an edge.We just tried wrapping a mirror, how do you do it without over-stretching it, and without getting lots of creases, we gave up!

Re: dstocks vinyl build thread
Well Automars claim to do a full vinyl wrap for $1,250, factor into Labor and surely you'd be able to get a full roll for $500-$800?

Nah, buy it from stickithome. They charge $45 ex GST per metre. $16 metres cost me $900 from Automars. Wanted to keep him happy in case other people wanted the job done for them so paid the extra.

Re: dstocks vinyl build thread
Fair enough, I think I'll just source it overseas. Can get a 5ft x 60ft 3m 1080 roll for $650 delivered. Just ordered roughly 10 colour samples so I'll see how they look firstdstocks wrote:Nah, buy it from stickithome. They charge $45 ex GST per metre. $16 metres cost me $900 from Automars. FYI if anyone wants cheap samples / order a full roll try here:

Samples are $1 each, and only $3 for postage

Re: dstocks vinyl build thread
Looks great!
I have one question though, is there any reason why nobody has smoothed out the lip where the numberplate goes and the rest of the bar?
I'd be keen to do that when I get one...

Re: dstocks vinyl build thread
Nope, no reason other than the fact that it has tocover the taillight which is flush with the bar. Noone has done it eitherI have one question though, is there any reason why nobody has smoothed out the lip where the numberplate goes and the rest of the bar?
